Too many issues to count

I flew in for the game and my expectations were pretty low, but wow man D$ was right when he said it was over after the 3rd play. From where I sat it looked like half the roster would rather be anywhere else than playing the Noles at Hard Rock on a Saturday night.

We'd better pray this class sticks.

That SoFla *** though...

Not just him but he’s a big part of it
I forgot about this until you wrote this post but on the day Gattis was hired, he published a note about how no one at Michigan supported him and his Michigan players shouldn’t stay somewhere they aren’t supported. Because Harbaugh flirted with the Minnesota job and Gattis didn’t get hired as HC in the midst of it.

Not exactly a great sign that he wanted to be at Miami as much as he wanted to give the middle finger to Harbaugh and Michigan

It was pretty evident last night that the collective team didn’t give a ****. Packed stadium, night game on ABC versus their biggest rival and nobody seemed to care. No pride, no fight, no chemistry. We’ve had a ton of bad losses (far too many to accept) but last night was as close to the Tie’s loss to Clemson as I can remember.

At least fix the **** culture and start today.

I‘m not coming in here and wasting my time and yours posting the same ole drivel about breakdowns, pro’s & cons , who stood out and how I’m feeling as a fan. Nobody wants to read that and tbh I don’t feel like writing it. The game was what it was and so is the season. I’m over it all and I have no emotion about it either way. Nothing was shocking last night and that’s why it was easy for me to turn it off in the third quarter, as if I’ve been watching a bad movie. No anger , sadness or embarrassment. Just another horrible performance on a Saturday. Oh well.

This thread is more about the longterm health of the program and the countless issues staring it in the face . I’m going to make this short and sweet with no sugarcoating.

First and foremost this staff needs changes. Multiple coaches HAVE TO BE GONE!! If not the class will lose guys and current recruits will give Miami no shot. Program changing type recruits Including guys committed. That’s not opinion , that’s purely fact. Nobody wants to play for some of these coaches or their scheme.

We have of a staff of individuals instead of a staff. Coaches that care more about their ego, protecting their brand and moving up in coaching circles versus actually teaching and building relationships. Coaches that came here because they were butthurt at their other job, or had issues with their previous HC’s. When you have coaches leaking crap out or giving quotes throwing players under the bus to cover your own *** you lose the position room. Trust and respect go a long way in coaching and we lack that as a staff. This is far more than horrible coaching , it goes all the way down to recruiting. There’s only a few guys carrying the water and others that think just by showing up to the games everything is Gucci. “You‘ve been recruited , I’ve done my part“ lol.

Yes we have a bad culture , quitters on the roster and lack talent but the issues are much bigger than that. It’s much deeper. There’s toxicity every where and the on field product shows. Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.

Let's just keep this 100, we are talking about coach Gattis and his horrible offense combined with his lack of ability to connect with the players. Add in Frank Ponces in ability to develop the QB room an you can see why the offense is floundering. If Mario believed in Ponce's ability to run the offense he would have dominated Gattis already. Two games without a TD is inexcusable.

Go Canes

Good post and people needed to hear it. The issue with this staff was in front of our faces the entire time. The players clearly do not want to play for many of these coaches. I saw multiple references to Gattis but I'm curious who else is behind the toxic environment in the program. My guess would be that you were mostly referring to Gattis, Ponce and Addae but there could be 1 or 2 more. Get a feeling that Gattis is by far the worst offender and that he is at the very center of the toxicity. Whoever they are they need to be fired immediately after the season.

This sounds like a thinly-veiled jab at Gattis, no?
I’m thinking Kevin Smith is one of the coaches, he seemed to have not seen eye to eye with Kiffin according to some Ole Miss people although that is highly debatable. Addae seemed to have had problems with Kirby and Muschamp, Strong was the Assistant Head Coach of that disaster in Jacksonville last year. I’m not going to speak for Cribby but those were all situations he could be alluding to.

It’s also concerning that Bryan McClendon followed Mario here and then within weeks left as well.

I’ve never heard anything negative about Smith anywhere.

Who were the two staff members from big time programs that were using this job as a stepping stone to get a HC gig? Gattis and Addae

Whose units have performed the worst and have recruited the worst? Gattis and Addae (DVD gets the credit for Cormani)

It’s clear that those two guys were big misses and need to go. Big ego, overrated from big programs whose style and personalities are clashing with other staff and probably the players

Like a lot of people on here I knew it would be a tough year transition wise but in no way did I think it would go down like this....
This is where Mario needs to really show what he can do as a program builder, assuming he really is one, and turn this thing around....
Proper decisions are paramount at this point as far as looking forward goes.... The ones he made thus far have been questionable but it is still year 1...

From reading through tea leaves this sounds like the obvious culprits are Gattis & Addae but I can't discount Ponce as the obvious qb regression is damning at this point & Feld's reputation for player injuries is equally damning
Good point on Ponce, Ponce also left App State where he was the OC, interesting taking a demotion from a prominent group of 5 school.
