Too many issues to count

I‘m not coming in here and wasting my time and yours posting the same ole drivel about breakdowns, pro’s & cons , who stood out and how I’m feeling as a fan. Nobody wants to read that and tbh I don’t feel like writing it. The game was what it was and so is the season. I’m over it all and I have no emotion about it either way. Nothing was shocking last night and that’s why it was easy for me to turn it off in the third quarter, as if I’ve been watching a bad movie. No anger , sadness or embarrassment. Just another horrible performance on a Saturday. Oh well.

This thread is more about the longterm health of the program and the countless issues staring it in the face . I’m going to make this short and sweet with no sugarcoating.

First and foremost this staff needs changes. Multiple coaches HAVE TO BE GONE!! If not the class will lose guys and current recruits will give Miami no shot. Program changing type recruits Including guys committed. That’s not opinion , that’s purely fact. Nobody wants to play for some of these coaches or their scheme.

We have of a staff of individuals instead of a staff. Coaches that care more about their ego, protecting their brand and moving up in coaching circles versus actually teaching and building relationships. Coaches that came here because they were butthurt at their other job, or had issues with their previous HC’s. When you have coaches leaking crap out or giving quotes throwing players under the bus to cover your own *** you lose the position room. Trust and respect go a long way in coaching and we lack that as a staff. This is far more than horrible coaching , it goes all the way down to recruiting. There’s only a few guys carrying the water and others that think just by showing up to the games everything is Gucci. “You‘ve been recruited , I’ve done my part“ lol.

Yes we have a bad culture , quitters on the roster and lack talent but the issues are much bigger than that. It’s much deeper. There’s toxicity every where and the on field product shows. Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.
I think it’s bigger than coaching. You have the administration that doesn’t know football. They Should’ve hired Rad and give him full reigns of the program. He should’ve been hiring the head coach but instead he agreed with whatever Rudy Fernandez was doing. Then Mario did the same ****. He got his guys and hired the OC and DC after the staff was hired. Everyone in that program are a bunch of amateurs that think they know what they’re doing.

We have a TON of issues that SHOULD lead to new coaches in the offseason, but the hiring of position coaches before OCs is one of the weirdest nit-picky gripes around here in some time.

Coordinators come and go at every program good and bad. The Head Coach would be constantly turning over his entire staff if he allowed every Coordinator to bring their own guys. He'd also constantly be losing those guys once the Coordinator moved on.

It makes complete sense for a Head coach to fill out the staff with coaches that match their philosophy. If anything maybe you want some input from your coordinators, but bringing their own guys seems to be the CIS fabricated gripe du jour.

Show me a top program where the new Coordinator brought his guys that weren't mostly the Head Coaches guys.

I’m thinking Kevin Smith is one of the coaches, he seemed to have not seen eye to eye with Kiffin according to some Ole Miss people. Addae seemed to have had problems with Kirby and Muschamp, Strong was the Assistant Head Coach of that disaster in Jacksonville last year. I’m not going to speak for Cribby but those were all situations he could be alluding to.

It’s also concerning that Bryan McClendon followed Mario here and then within weeks left as well.
I believe at the time we had no OC and he was trying to put his bid in and Mario was like naw. He left for UGA for same job title as wr coach.

Here are my thoughts:

DC: I've been disappointed with Steele but not sure if I'd retain him or not. I do think the defense sucks more due to stupid/****** players than scheme which is the opposite of what i think about the offense. Undecided, would make a call end of year.

Linebackers: Strong, I'd keep him. These players suck, next person who tells me Flagg is good will be ignored. His recruiting is great too.

DT: Joe is kind of useless, he's one of Mario's boys and apparently helps with Polynesians but seems pretty useless outside of that. He can't recruit for **** and coaches one position group while being assistant Head Coach or something crazy meaning he's extremely overpaid. I don't really care either way unless he actually helps bring in Polynesians, otherwise I'd fire him too. He's not one of the major issues either way imo.

DE: Seems fine but don't really know honestly

DB: Addae sucks both on and off the field. He's also apparently lazy, i can deal with sucking if you give effort but laziness=getting fired end of year.

Mario's grade in hires=F

On offense, Ponce and Gattis gotta go

Big Joe and Strong have been recruiting their asses off. Popo credited Strong for building a legit bond with him. Francis refers to him as an UNCLE... PLUS, watching the development of LT and Darrell Jackson, I think big Joe is alright.
For him and Strong, there wasn't much here, originally, to work with.

Addae? I simply do not know enough to comment on. His groups play have been spotty at best and I'm not sure how Strong of a recruiter he actually is.

Cribby, please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve heard you (and Flo for that matter) say that upwards of 40 new players will make up the roster next year. In light of that here’s my questions:

1. Isn’t that number (40) a little low given the lack of cap at 25 for the recruiting class itself? Or am I missing something?

2. I think we all can guess Gattis (and to some extent Addae) will likely be gone, but can you give a similar estimate on total number of coaches/analysts that will be different next year?

Well said.

Idk if Ponce is good or bad but has to go - Need a real full time WR coach and the OC should coach/croot QB's like Lash.

Half of these guys are Mario's boys - Mirabel (can stay), Joe, Feld, Ponce. Will Mario man up and fire them?

Mario dug himself a massive hole now with having to fire 1 if not 2 coordinators after 1 season. Who will honestly want to come coach under him? He's gonna have to go for an up/comer (out of the question in my opinion, not Mario's style) or massively overpay a new OC/DC with huge buyout and full control of offense/defense. Better hope the money is there from Ruiz/Rad.

I consider Zo a wildcard cause i have no idea his power here, decision making skills when it comes to staff, and/or ability to stand up to Mario and tell him when he's wrong and must change
I forgot about Feld, I'd lean towards firing him too due to injuries but i just don't know enough about who is responsible for that to say i would for sure. One thing is true, Oregon had a massive number of injuries last year (and possibly before that too) and now Miami has a massive amount after they came here....it's not a coincidence that it followed them here. It's apparent that either the practices are too TuFf or Feld isn't doing his job, or it's some other factor i don't know about. Either way, it's massively concerning as it relates to players' health.

In my opinion, Kevin Steele need to be gone also. 9 games into the season and we’re still blowing coverages. Obviously he’s not doing something right as well.

It's not. I talked to a certain someone well known around these parts a couple weeks ago who alluded to some real bad fits within the coaching staff. If you have conflict between coordinators and position coaches about technique, how to do certain things, etc., that's going to be a problem in terms of instructing the kids and being unanimous in that regard. You need total buy-in.

At this point it doesn’t matter. There’s nothing left to play for and a few games left. All that matters is he’ll be gone.
When something like this happens will Mario tell someone (hypothetically Gattis) now that they'll be fired at the end of year? And if so, will Mario tell or strongly hint that Gattis will be gone to recruits now as well since I'm sure they all hate the offense?

The image I can’t get out of my head is Gattis lighting into X last night coming off the field and then going over to bark at him some more. Does this happen and should it happen if a player is wrong? Yes! But judging by the look on both faces you could see it wasn’t a teaching moment that X was receptive to it looked like a bashing from afar. Players and coaches are the blame for this season as I’ve painfully watched every game. I pray Mario makes the right hires this go around.

Here are my thoughts:

Mario-cant fire him so i don't really think about it

OC: Gattis, usually I'd say wait until end of year but he's arrogant AF and cancerous, I'd throw him out of the plane on the way home....or at least fire him immediately.

QB: Tough to coach to a **** scheme, but Jake is possibly ruined. I'd fire him end of year.

RB: Good with Kevin

WR: Gattis, independent of his OC duties I'd fire him as the WR coach

TE: Field is doing his job

OL: Mirabal is legit, been hammered by lazy players and injuries

DC: I've been disappointed with Steele but not sure if I'd retain him or not. I do think the defense sucks more due to stupid/****** players than scheme which is the opposite of what i think about the offense. Undecided, would make a call end of year.

No arguments from me.

What was this in regards to? **** if someone should be off-limits its X.

Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.
Amen to that. What does it say about MC's judgement that he could not see that importance as he was assembling his staff? Guess maybe he thought he could meld it all together successfully somehow. Instead, it has blown up in his face, big time!

Never happen, but I sure would love to hear these highly-paid Coordinators and Position Coaches' evaluations of the players they work with every day. I'm sure that they're sure the teams' struggles are "not on them."

Strong hasn’t gotten anything out of Caleb Johnson who was 2nd team All-PAC 12, Bissainthe was missing tackles everywhere last night. His position group has regressed as well. It also doesn’t seem like Strong has been able to help him with any of his HC duties. I’m not sure Strong deserves a free pass either because like you said the only thing he has done is recruit well.

Mario probably wanted to do it this way since BAMA does....but he's not Saban and there's no system already in place
