I liked the point that if the current playoff rules were instituted before Richt’s UGA tenure, then he would have had them in the playoffs at least 2 times, maybe more.
All we heard from UGA fans last year was that Kirby was the one who finally got them over the hump, accomplishing something Richt never did — providing UGA the opportunity to play for a national championship. But if this were the BCS era, Kirby wouldn’t have gotten them there either. They ended up being a 3rd seed in last year’s playoff, so it’s ridiculous to demonize Richt for having a taller hill to climb, in my opinion. During his tenure, you had to finish in the top 2 to get a shot. Now, you can qualify for the playoffs and win one game to get in. It’s just ridiculous for UGA fans to make some of these claims.
