Tommy Kennedy

Some of yall make it seem like we were the only team P5 team that wanted him. He had a very nice list of teams that courted him including OU so this kid fooled a lot of people.

For this to be that big of a miss I have to think it was mental with him and he never was able to recover after Nesta just constantly got in his head and bytched him day in and day out. The coaches probably thought it would toughen him up but it worked the opposite and he basically lost all his confidence and went into a shell. For him to not even be in the 2 deep tells me this has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with this kid just being a "shot boxer" at this point.

I don’t follow recruiting as closely anymore because I got tired of 16-year-olds de-committing every day, but there had to be some local offensive linemen we didn’t recruit that would’ve been a better take.

I’d rather get some young kids in and try to develop them over 4 years instead of trying to plug and play some bum with the muscle mass of a whoopee cushion and one year left to play.

To be fair, this is the first grad transfer I can think of that was a total and massive failure. Even Justin Renfrow who came in from UVA gave us a some quality moments. Mike Williams was pretty bad but not this bad. All in all, grad transfers have been pretty good to us.

So you'd rather have another Bar Milo?

Couldn't disagree more. We are well under the 85 limit, and we needed to take a chance. Having him come in didn't keep anyone else out. I'd agree if we had to turn away a better player, but we didn't.

lol ok man. well, his performance from the jump says otherwise. there is NO WAY that kid shouldve been brought in here. sorry, facts are facts. he's up upperclassman who can't crack the 2 deep. it was an evaluation mistake. it happens.

Oklahoma wanted him too. He had the tape I guess just not the competitive fight in him

agree. it's possible they made a mistake in their evaluation as well. i mean this isn't speculation. the kid obviously isn't D1 material. nothing wrong with that

As has already been pointed out, he’s not taking up a roster spot that should have gone to someone else.

Would’ve been nice if he had been who he was supposed to be (I.e. plug & play LT), but he’s not. Oh well.

It didn't cost us ONE single player. Absolutely ZERO harm done bringing him in. If nothing else he can be a scout team player, which we need. I'd be right there with you if we were talking about a 4 year player, but we are not. He's here for one year, and we are not close to needing that one scholarship spot for a better player. Again, no harm at all in this particular case.

There is no buyer's remorse when you get something for free.

ok well i mean there is a big difference between "he's harming the program" and "he shouldnt have been brought in." i didn't say there was any harm, but he certainly, without question, is not D1 major college football material. you are right, ok scout team stuff, whatever. but he is not a D1 player.

Yep, and those are needed. Especially guys that are 5th year seniors. I agree, he's not a D1 level player, but honestly, we have seen worse than him that were forced to play for us. If their names are said out loud too many times, they haunt my dreams. So, I won't mention them.

Plus, Manny kept all those other big programs from getting him. Savage move, IMO.

I swear the criticism of this guy makes me think there has to be some underlying reason. Too many posters are spending in inordinate amount of time on a guy that didn't "cost" a thing and isn't even on the depth chart. Interesting.

This is all facts... which makes you wonder how bad Kennedy actually must be tthat the coaches will try out anybody else but him on the depth chart smh

I’m sure he was given opportunities when he got here with the 1st team line, but obviously is not beating out Scaife and Donaldson at guard, probably our best 2 linemen. He needed to compete at tackle...I’m sure he’s still in the mix for backup guard play since that’s a weak field to compete with. Is Dykstra still on this roster? Haven’t heard his name since signing day.

Btw, I like that we’re not moving our best guys from their natural positions, would prefer to have a dominant interior. Was just thinking if these moves all work out we’ll have very experienced starters at QB, LT, and RT when we play Alabama in 2 years...playing the long game these will all be better for our future, and hopefully not set us back too far in the present
