Tommy Kennedy

Butler had a top offense in D2. Kennedys dissapointment is a surprise to most. His film shows a different player than we got.
Somewhat yea. And Lance Roffers admitted he didn't take into account the massive talent difference when watching his tape. And yes, the fact he is in the 2 deep regardless shows we have some major depth issues on the OL.

I saw a photo of Kennedy in the front row in the team picture with the woman who spoke to them on sexual harassment. He still has too soft a body. But the kid is really big and looks in much better condition than 6-8 months ago. I wouldn't count him out just yet. Feeley has another project on his hands.

That's the point. The guy definitely wasn't prepared for what he ran into when he arrived here, no doubt about it.

To count him out entirely though is an early indictment of Barry. If we believe in what we have as an OL coach now, it is not hard to believe he can get some serviceable dog out of this guy.

From an article:

"Tommy Kennedy signed with the Miami football program while Mark Richt was still the head coach. Eight days after Kennedy signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Hurricanes from Butler University as a graduate transfer, Richt abruptly resigned. Manny Diaz took over and changes happened rapidly."

"The experience Kennedy received during the spring at all three positions on the offensive line will help prepare him for the fall. Even if Kennedy does not start, his versatility will help Barry and offensive coordinator Dan Enos. Kennedy will be the utility offensive lineman and provide maturity up front."

In other words a big body that can get into a stance!

We know the staff is rotating guys to see what we have. What knowledge, over everyone else, do you have that he’s not in the mix to be running second team? I get it, he disappointed everyone by not being a competent Left Tackle, but that has little to do with him being able to be a backup guard. Our depth sucks, the bar isn’t very high to fill that role
The question you should be asking is when is the last time you saw a report or a coach mention Tommy Kennedy in a positive way? Kids just happy to be here at this point.

Article from Dec 2018... Anything positive from this year. Your literally making krazycanes point. High expectations with zero returns to date. Just not strong enough. They won't waise time developing a guy who will be gone next year. When we took him we were desperate for bodies in the last class. Not bashing the kid just being honest.

I stand by my statement in the original thread. Kid has good feet, the unknown was always if he had the requisite strength. This is the same evaluation team that took Zion. Both were projections and Kennedy was the safer bet. So far Kennedy has disappointed while Zion has surpassed all expectations.

Zion has not played in an actual college football game to surpass anybody's expectations. The epitome of a GTAA. He's our starting LT because our OL is a train wreck (per usual).

I know you are much smarter than the Auburn, Miami, Nebraska and other recruiters. Get off your high horse and get back to work installing speakers. You are so lazy with your research that you did not even know he was a mutiple year starter. Geez, fans like these.
Holy shiiiiiitt! Multiple year starter at Butler! Wow. Barry needs t move him to first team immediately.

He's an honorable mention all-conference offensive lineman from Butler...which means he's - at best - the 16th best OL in whatever conference he came from. What did you expect?
I know he is not working out, but at least get the narrative right - 2nd team all Conference. I know it is a weak conference, I get it, but get the narrative right guys. Bad look.

So he's the 10th best offensive lineman in the *checks notes* Pioneer Conference. Cool. Really clarifies the narrative on him.

Again - I know he is not any good - but our fans need to get the facts straight. Thats all. Texas, Arizona, BC, Ok all read him wrong! Sucks.

Glad you got the confrence right - big improvement over past poster ability to do any research.

Why does any of that matter?

He's here now and he's versatile George Brown at the moment.

"Oklahoma wanted him"...was the narrative that got people believing he was any good. **** like that doesn't matter. Just like the facts of who he is and where he's from do not matter. He could be from Cape May, NJ and transferring from Wisconsin-Whitewater for all I care.

He’s here for 1 year. If he doesn’t pan out, who gives a ****? It’s not like we’re at 85 schollys.
