Tom Herman

Texas is the biggest concern here. they need an offensive coach to keep up in the Big 12....hopefully they go with Chip and we can get Herman (or vice versa also works).

No way Miami would actually go out and get chip kelly. Our lives arent that good.
 
I was on Herman as OC at OSU. I mentioned this b4 in another thread, but he comes from the Meyers coaching tree so I'm more than fine with that. If I'm not mistaken, he was used on a couple of So Fla recruits as well.

Very short list should be:
Butch
Herman
Kelly (if he's gone at Philly)

No Cristobal
No Kiffin
Neither are truly from the Saban coaching tree. They are temporary implants and have a history of sucking.

Recruiting would go absolutely bonkers down the stretch and he would step into a Junior QB on every National Pre-season list

He's done more with less than what he'd have at Miami next season.

chip needs a dual threat, brad wouldnt complete chips offense. it would be missing a huge part of what chip does. i wouldnt mind chip but give me butch all day

uhhhh yea i seen his team in the nfl they suck. everytime he went up against a butch davis sec type physical dline he gets mauled. im about titles thats it, the Offense is coo but what will that do against an elite front 7? considering butch will go ham on the trail which is guranteed....give me a game manager like Dorsey and a four headed backfield of pro bowlers/elite college rbs (what bama does). n a nasty fast loaded swarming defense n we winning period. we would bring trophies to that trophy room, everyone says win n they will come....its bullshyt. mcelwain first year n dude snatching guys up, richt never wins n lands top classes. that wiining **** is bullshyt its either u can recruit or u cant. ag cant recruit he cant protect home turf just like coke n shannon, good guys cant win at miami.

I don't disagree with you at all. I guess I just have resigned myself to the BOT being incompetent. The Butch thing is too easy and obvious and They don't want his baggage would be the excuse. Probably same excuse will be used for Kelly. Golden needed fired a long time ago and I'm sure the buyout could've been negotiated down. BOT will f this up GUARANTEED!!

Richt never wins? Maybe he hasn't won a NC but the last time I checked Georgia averages between 10-12 wins a season.

I really want to see the spread at Miami. I really believe it would be dangerous with the skill position players in south Florida,
 
I joked with a 3-4 star Central Florida kid with a UM offer about Chip Kelly last Friday night and he said it would be no question. It would be a "where do I sign" and lets go.

And for the record....all the recruits are starting to see what we already know.

But seriously, the Butch drum beating has gotten so far out of freakin hand. Being completely transparent, after these next couple of draft classes, Jimbo's resume as a college football coach (winning and in game adjustments...he has a ring/Butch does not) and developer of NFL talent will look an awful lot like Butch's if not slightly more impressive.

If you're putting his resume up against Chip's, then it's also not as cut and dry as "HIRE BUTCH." Chip was dominating at Oregon while Butch was struggling at North Carolina and Chip has an overall style that is "Miami" to a tee.

Also, Butch would be coming back at a time when College Football is very different operationally. Butch could put players through torture. Those extra hours of instruction can't be understated and I think they've had an effect on the quality of the game as a whole, but that's a discussion for a different day.

This is not to say that Butch would be the WRONG choice. There are just alternatives that make a whole lot of sense and the only reason Butch gets the ink he does around here is because as Bomani loves to say "Miami LOOOOVES winners" and they immortalize them even past their legitimately earned praise.

People think, "hire Butch and go back to to the year 2000" and that's not necessarily the most reasonable way to think about it. There exists a very good chance that Butch would put us back in the national spotlight, there also exists a chance that Butch isn't successful here and you're back looking for a new coach in 5-7 years.

Kelly is a more successful Golden. His way is the ONLY way something can be done. With him we will have a NEW offense that is not Miami DNA and the remains of Al's defense which is not Miami DNA. We have plenty of local speed to again have a speed kills defense that nobody can match. That is our advantage over everyone else. Chip does not care about defense and his tempo offense is a defense killer -- both defenses
 
Pretty sad when someone says he may be looking for a better job than Miami. That didn't used to be the case.
 
I don't see Miami spending money on two buy outs. So the next head coach, needs to free from a buy out

What? and What? So speed kills but only on defense?

Chip Kelly would have us in the playoff every year. His system with Miami athletes would be killer.

doesnt chip have to sit out if he comes back to college? So wouldn't we have to push our timetable back a little bit? Philly isnt ready to cast him off yet.
 
I actually thought the guys on ESPN said something the other day that was to the tune of 18 months suspension if he ever goes back to college game. Maybe i misheard them....
