Tom Herman

Butch should be our first option because we already know what he can do, and that we can get him cheaper than most. This means we would have more money in the bank to build an elite assistant coaching staff. If we can't get him then we go after Chip (if he is available). After that if we're still searching I would love Herman. However, his lack of head coaching experience does slightly worry me. But all in all, he has the fire that I want in a head coach, he aint no p****.

CERTAINLY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH KIFFEN OR EVEN CRISTOBAL

Did he say jumbo's resume is more impressive than Butch Lollllllll

That is a stretch but what Jimbo is putting together from the aspect of getting kids to the league is very impressive not GOAT level like Butch but very impressive. Also for all the love Butch gets and 90% is warranted don't forget that Butch was not a very good game day coach. Sure way better than Golden but hardly a sure thing. I have concerns about Butch as a HC. Bring him back in some matter or position but HC isn't as slam dunk of a situation as most of here make it out to be.

I like Herman too but, there's no way these cheap ******** would pay buyout. They don't even want to pay the buyout for corch Al, and that's with the entire fanbase turning on them.

This guy isn't just 4-0 in his first year, but he's already beaten more ranked teams in those four games than Golden has done in his entire career. Beating Michigan and destroying an Oregon team with way more talent than his is legit.

Are you talking about Kyle Whittingham, at Utah?

Lol, you got the wrong guy.

Would really like Hermann but I still think we go in hard for chip Kelly. He's gotta know by now he aint an NFL coach. I know I'm delusional.

Do you want that weak sauce Oregon D in Miami?

I know he's had a lot of success in college, but I'm tired of my DL sitting in a frog stance.

Only way I see us getting Chip Kelly is if he calls us looking for the Job.

I would consider the states of Florida, Texas or So Cali as one of Chips next stops if the Pro gig doesn't work out. Most of those head coaching positions are set. Except for Texas.
If UT is in the mix. We're out.

I've been soundly criticized on this board for having the exact same opinion.

This team needs a Jimmy Johnson type hire. A younger up and coming coach. Although I'll take Butch in a heartbeat.

When this program is right it's not only putting players in the NFL but coaches too. We need a great hire to get back on track.

If' Herman's all that - there will be a number of other coaching jobs besides Miami this Winter.

I recall some folks going through the same gyrations over Gruden.

Like that was even close.

Chip has never had access to monsters like Chad Thomas or Moten or Gerald freaking Willia or Kendrick Norton. With the proper seasoning and experience, those players could be dominant in the near future, though due to their current circumstance, I don't believe they are performing to the extent of their abilities. I believe that Chip would hire what is necessary to make those guys great.

Real question does Chip care about the DL? Many true offensive guys don't. And his NFL defense seems LB driven. I don't remember much DL development at Oregon, although I do remember some athletes (ask the Fins).

As to Herman, I threw his name, and Fuente's out there before this season. I don't think you can conclude much about either right now.

You can say Fuente has done a lot, with real progress, with not a lot. As has been discussed, his win record is really not comparable to Golden's at Temple.

I just thought Herman seemed to have the right pedigree and role in that OSU offense, particularly last year, to merit serious inquiry. I still do. I'm also impressed by his recruiting, although he is in the "new guy" year that usually guarantees some bump.

Just talked to my co-worker who's also a UT alum and contributes regularly towards Texas education and athletics. Stated that if Strong can beat OU this week, all will be forgiven for this year as they realize that two of the losses he sustained were unfortunate, fluke special teams plays. However, if he's pushed to be let loose after this year, then Kelly (if let go by Philly) and HERMAN are their top choices. UT are really big on Herman behind closed doors as well, apparently.

Yeah because you would have to be ****** brain-dead to not want Chip Kelly at Miami.
