Tom Brady reveals the DB he hated playing against the most

Ed was a master of mind games and manipulating QBs.

Everyone talks about how athletically gifted he was (All Big East in javelin), but he probably benefited from his football intelligence and instincts more than his athletic ability. He probably had the best instincts ever from a defensive player. Troy was up there too.

Yes, but also played strong safety, not free safety. Or so I recall. @Tad Footeball ??
Exactly. Started as a strong safety and then moved into essentially an undefineable hybrid role that was as much LB as it was SS.

Troy kinda being a Seau-esque DB makes this debate impossible to actually have vs Ed as Ed was better in the traditionally defined role.

I saw someone say something like this once and it pretty much summed up both of them for me:

Ed is an all-time talent that you had to game plan around to have any chance at winning and good luck even then and Troy was an all-time talent that could wreck your gameplan in the biggest moment.

It’s crazy because growing up watching ED Reed, Andre Johnson, etc. I knew those guys were good but at the time while they were playing with Miami I didn’t realize I was watching future NFL HOFmers at my favorite college
I have this suspicion that you wear Velcro shoes.

And Ed Reed isn’t Charles Woodson. They played different positions. Charles Woodson is possibly the greatest overall (not just cover) CB that’s ever played.

Like I said, mentioning him is valid as well. I’m guessing ARods opinion is more informed than yours.
Nah. I'd take pre injury Rod Woodson over Charles Woodson.

Love how Ed Reed terrorized QB's. Every single one. Firmly believe Sean Taylor & Ed Reed would've been #1 & #2 Safeties post 2000
Tom Brady is talking about the Cajun Ed Reed and what do you know a Florida guy has to be mentioned. Wow Homer
