To the tape watchers, regarding OL?

Tommy Kinsler transferring is looking like a major loss… I don’t know why he left but we should’ve increased his NIL to keep him if that was the issue.

This is going to be a more finesse offense. Air it out , pass to run. The current starters are lacking bullies like last year. Short yardage will be more of an issue than previous years. At least until younger guys are ready. There’s just not the size , girth and strength inside ( pause ).

Mensah throws for 350-400 and a few TD’s. Mali has 150-200 yards a 2-3 TD’s and Barkate gets 75-100 yards and a TD or 2 I’m Gucci.

Facts, in the game day forum I immediately asked who tf was that? They said Hawks and I was like he needs to play period end of story. Dont care what his rank is, or star rating, mass kicks ***. Like someone said we have him for 4 years, maybe 3 if he balls out. Dude looked super talented imo

You don’t think Cantwell possesses that size and strength at the guard position? Because if we’re comparing him to SJ, he absolutely does. Cantwell needs to start at that guard spot. I’m fine with Buchanan starting at the other because I thought he played pretty good the other night but SJ just isn’t it at that spot. If he wants to start on this team in the future, it’s center or nothing. What are your thoughts on that?

That’s why I said at least until the younger guys are ready. He’s not Francis , he’s being eased in rather than starting day 1

It would be one thing if it was just one-off, but this has been the pattern of his play over the last 4 years since he's been here.

Solid rotational Guard, but not a starting Center, especially for a team that has National championship aspirations.

I agree with you here about not bringing in a proven commodity to play Off Line. I swear i think they believed Cantwell and Merriwether would hold down Tackle, and keep McCoy and Samson at Guard. But its too late for 2nd guessing. Need to lean
in on the in-season development and create serviceable/playable depth.
 
Samson and McCoy both looked good at tackle, and I can see them both being drafted (Samson could be a 1st or 2nd rounder). Fix the guard play, and this offensive line has a legit shot to be a Top 20 unit in the country.
 
I was wrong about Rodriguez, figured he would be much better against teams like Stanford and be flat out bad against the better teams. He’s not a power conference center, especially at Miami.

Supposedly he held up okay at LT in the spring.

More importantly, it's easier to give help on the edges.

That said, protecting Mensah is the priority. Go with the best pass-blocking combo, even if we have to sacrifice a little bit in the run game.

If we are just slinging it all over the yard the run game will pick up with more reps. Not overly concerned think the guards just need time
 
Should have portalled a tackle or guard to stabilize everything with such an otherwise complete team, they took too many projects the last 3 years to have tried to stay within the program. Best case is Cantwell and Buchanan continue to take a leap at guard and SJ is left diving into the pile as a fullback
