Most frustrating tape on screen blocks I have ever seen, he literally is in position and can even prepare himself to annihilate people into the 4th dimension...

and then he whiffs or doesn't even realize someone is reading right for him.

Like, he's cat quick. The man can go. But when it's time to DO something, nope.

Thank you. The OL has potential but if this guy starts on Thursday I may break something

Not true. I was there and watched him specifically.. Multiple plays he was moving his man well.

It was better than I first thought upon watching again (currently). He still didn't get movement consistently. It sticks out when he doesn't cause we expect him to bully guys. It's the first time he's played, he will definitely improve for game 2. Give me Cantwell, Ryan, and Max inside. Seemed to be our best combination. That was the line when Marty had several nice runs in the 2nd qtr.

Am personally ecstatic with how that unit performed overall against a defense that sold out to stop the run, and that was 25th in rush defense last season. Based on what we saw I'd be shocked to see a new starting 5 at any point. There were some rocky moments for SJ in the first half but go back and watch the tape and you'll see how the OL dominated beginning with the first drive of the 3rd quarter.

Congdon was wearing a brace on his left knee, and maybe that's held him back a little? Otherwise, not sure how he went from the story of fall camp to the 8th or 9th OL. It was so surprising to see Hawks enter the game before Congdon in that jumbo package.

Would you be opposed to just suring up that left side, especially with the duo blocking Miami does, protecting the blind side and going to the following:

LT - Samson
LG - McCoy
C - Rodriguez/Woodrow
RG - Buchanon
RT - Cantwell

SJ can barely hold up vs Stanford. He needs to be at center and blocking full back and that’s it. He doesn’t have the size (pause) to play vs the good teams at guard.

I’d rather get my lumps out of the way with Cantwell now, early in the season, at RT.

I rewatched this afternoon on the treadmill. SJ looked like he didnt know who to block and that was a lot of the reasons for his struggles, he was late to react but he was strong when engaged Can't lie I focused on Cantwell. for someone supposedly so strong he was getting pushed back in pass pro big time I mean he was on skates. I'm worried. There is no way you wanna risk Mensah's health with Cantwell at RT absolutely not.

The issue to me, is LG & C.

Fix those 2 spots & the entire line is fixed.

I think McCoy would be better off at Guard, I'm pretty sure he'll be moved to Guard when he eventually makes the league, but, for right now I don't think the staff thinks they have enough sure things at Tackle & don't trust either of the TF's enough to leave them at RT. Hence, why McCoy is playing RT.

They probably should've added some veteran upperclassmen kids from the portal from some FCS/G5 Midwestern programs just to have some insurance players in the event the TF's weren't gonna be ready.

Rodriguez struggled pretty badly against Stanford.

He had issues with high snapping the ball & whiffed on multiple run Blocks.

It would be one thing if it was just one-off, but this has been the pattern of his play over the last 4 years since he's been here.

Solid rotational Guard, but not a starting Center, especially for a team that has National championship aspirations.

We need a influx of talent in the interior OL imo. Missing on a few guys and even the LSU tackle was huge. LSU seems like they will target anyone we are after. Do you think MC will have the stones to even bench upper classman that waited like RR? I know I would and I hope he gives him the 4 games to say to him "show me you belong"

If not put the young guys in pause, but dont wait till we actually play someone to do that. It will be too late then, hurt feelings if you have to it is what it is.

Idk if he's ever done it in season, but Mario will play a TF over an upperclassmen if they beat them in camp.

Just shocking that they were so confident in this kid that they never looked for a Center in the portal. Unless Rodriguez is also hurt which wouldn't surprise me one bit.

They did, Meriweather who's been hurt and is getting up to speed and Jonathan Cline who I'm not sure if he played or if he's healthy or he just sucks.
