it doesn't matter who it has been. if we had any reasonable QB it would be touchdown city. this is not a new problem. it has plagued this program for **** near 15 years.

we need to get a junior or senior transfer in here next year if none of our younger guys are developing by the end of this year. of course it is on the coaches but our QBs can't read and miss wide open guys continually. you can blame richt for recruiting and player development. i am no richt homer either. but last i checked if none of these QBs would start at any other top 25 program (let alone top 10). they should be in film room 20 hours a day.

now, i know you are saying it is UVA. this is miami we shouldn't lose to UVA. well with crap behind center you can lose to JUCO state. UVA isn't the worst team we faced this year. with a reasonable defense and good coaching (bronco) it is easy to stop any team when the QB is dog****. rosier is dog**** if he has to throw. perry played like dog****. what is alarming was richt would go to a guy, for the rest of the game, who hasnt passed to the 1st team in weeks and stinks at passing. perry was playing worse than joescary out there. it was horrid.

you may ask why richt runs the ball? perhaps it is the very reason stated above, he knows our QBs are junk. i agree FB dives are too predictable and we need more creativity to get the ball in our play makers hands. jet sweeps, reverses, shovel passes. ken dorsey, crap line and all, would have this team 7 and 0. even brock berlin would have it 7 and 0. kyle wright.....nevermind.

my point is simple. get your *** out on the recruiting trail and find a competent QB who can manage a game and make big time throws with accuracy above a 5th grade level. otherwise we will never win. defense wins but we do not even have a guy as good as trent dilfer....

Perry is a good QB - we've seen him make high level throws. Rosier, not so much (and I'm being nice).

Brad Kaaya was a good QB when he had protection, but his problem was if he was hot, he was red hot, but if he was cold - he was ice cold. He was also a statue back there, which didn't help when protection broke down.

Stephen Morris was also a very good QB, and could move around in the pocket effectively. Had a big arm too, just not the most accurate.

Jacory Harris maximized what he was. He couldn't make all the throws, but he was tough and hung in the pocket to deliver some good balls in the short/intermediate range. Throwing deep and late was his issue.

I'm not going to go any further back, but we've had decent QB's that could play. Some had their flaws (as most all QB's do), but we've had some guys that can definitely play the game on the BCS level. So, while it's easy enough to say we need "a competent QB who can manage a game and make big time throws with accuracy" - we've had some guys who are good QB's who were held back either by playcalling or their own shortcomings...and one could even make the argument they could have been better had our defenses not sucked during parts of the last decade pre-Diaz.

I just don't agree with your premise. We have one of those QB's that you're asking for on the roster in Perry, and likely another in Jarren Williams. The issue is 1) the playcalling and 2) the development of those QB's into what they can potentially be.

Basically every thing you said points to cmr, it’s his job to get his qbs ready or find another one

Richts playcalling doesn’t allow for many big opportunities so when our QBs miss the problem is exacerbated

So yeah it’s both

The problem we have w our QBs is we hired an inexperienced amateur as our QB Coach bc he’s the coach’s son

perry is a talented QB, but he isnt good yet. hes had 1 good game (FIU) and hes been pretty okay to bad w some good moments. he was awful for the first half of FSU and the short fields def helped him out in the second half (obviously made the two great throws for the game winning score). UNC was over bc of the D but he was pretty bad in the third quarter when we tried running some sort of offense (threw a pick and the fumble). hes still young and has to develop so im not gonna blame him completely. he does need to spend every waking moment hes not in class in the film room though. overall, he shouldn't have been benched unless he was just out of it on the sidelines (well never know). the play calling has to change ASAP. as geo said in another thread, golden never made the changes he needed to after year 3 and richt is in the same spot. its year 3 and the offense has been relatively bad (outside of the 5 game stretch where he changed the tempo with kaaya). ill give him this offseason to go find an OC or drop whatever philosophy he has going on bc if we lose to UF next fall, im in on a banner.

Question for those of you who are more knowledgeable in the play part of the game:

What kind of plays should CMR be calling that will NOT require Perry to have to read the defense? What will make him successful and can enough of these plays be run throughout the game to put a complete game plan together?

IDK what Boston College runs for a defensive scheme. How would we have to plan offensively for Perry to be successful should he get the opportunity to play again? And taking into account our crappy Oline.
