To all the armchair QB's and faux coaches who love to criticize the team:

I'm just tired of people calling out EVERYBODY associated with the team.....Lashlee, Likens, Justice, Feeley, players....yes some players do need to play better and should live up to their billing, but I can't stand the medusa like tentacles of vitriol that go out to everyone just because people want to vent.

Maybe they should start winning some important games and stop getting embarrassed on tv. When the program starts upholding the tradition built here then us fans will stop going after those that help destroy that tradition.

What did Teddy say about those that came to the arena after recognizing their deficiencies and doing nothing to correct them (or not being man enough to look in the mirror and recognize one’s deficiencies). Yes, it’s easy to be a fan that criticizes. But these fans support the U and pour millions of dollars in donations, season tickets, apparel and tuition. We deserve to be as critical of these guys since they won’t work hard enough to stop dropping passes. They are WRs, not OLs. It is their job to catch passes.

You can put all the mopes together and I doubt you'll get to 100K in donations.

I never comment negatively on individual players even those mostly criticized by posters here. But I do blame the professional adults in the room who are guiding those young men. I believe we have enough good players but not nearly enough good coaching.
Here is what I just posted in another thread about the defensive players we have on the team in response to a poster saying we don't have the jimmies and joes to have a really good defense:

Well, the only fair way to list them is to use 24/7 composite ranking when they finish HS. It's the HC job to mold them, teach them, develop them and get them to fulfill their potential. When I agreed that we did have the "jimmies and joes" to be a better team it was based on what I thought of those players coming out of HS. If there is a recurring theme of disappointment of different players then you look at the common denominator: Coaching and development.

There is no crystal ball to know how HS players will turn out in few years of college development. But this is where coaching comes in play. Think of it for a minute and honestly answer this: If SF HS players who Saban got in the last few years signed with Diaz instead, would they perform at the same level at Miami as they are performing now at Alabama?

These are the "jimmies and joes" we got in 2018:

Gurvan Hall 4 stars
Al Blades Jr 4 stars
Gilbert Frierson 4 stars
Nesta Silvera 4 Stars
DJ Ivey 4 stars
Jordan Miller 3 stars
Patrick Joyner 3 stars
Those are the defensive players who we signed in 2018 and they are still on the roster.

Five players rated as 4 stars by 24/7 and two 3 stars. How much better you want your "jimmies and joe's" to be so you don't give up 62 points to middle of the pack school like UNC?

Yes, we do have the "jimmies and joes to do much better on defense than what we have been doing. We just don't have the coaching to mold them into the players they could be if went to other schools with a better coach.

Aren't you venting when you post this thread?

The player criticism is deserved. And hopefully it will light a fire under someone's *** to do things a little better. It's unrealistic to expect fans to show up to every game, buy the t-shirt, wave the pom-poms, write a check and go home. Not when the team is losing, that's not how it works with any fanbase. Respect is earned, not given.

Being a Miami Hurricane is the greatest honor most of these players will ever have in their entire lives. They're carrying the legacy and wearing the same "U" on their helmet as some of the greatest football players ever to strap up. So when they come out against UNC and look like they're not even making an effort, they need to be called out.
What if the fans aren't going to the games do they still have the right to criticize? As far as I know less than half the stadium was full. Are you writing checks to the Hurricanes?
What makes you believe the program is going in the right direction? That's not how I see it.
Or record has improved and our recruiting is becoming great. Great recruiting over time begets great teams.

How do you see it?

How is our record improving? In the Richt/Manny years....

2016: 9-4
2017: 10-3
2018: 7-6
2019: 6-7
2020: 8-3

That seems pretty stagnant to me. And our recruiting rankings?

2016: 12th
2017: 8th
2018: 27th
2019: 16th
2020: 11th

Again.... seems stagnant. So how is this evidence that we're improving? If anyone in the ACC can say they're improving, it's North Carolina.

And yeah, fans who don't go to games do have the right to criticize. Maybe if we had a better team, those fans would show up.

The last time I donated to UM sports was for the indoor facility. I'm not giving again until they either start winning or they replace Blake James, or they do a targeted fundraise again like with the IPF. I'm not giving my money for Blake James to manage without any strings attached. The only way I'm donating with him at the helm is if it's marked for a specific purpose, like a practice facility or something.

Basically, yearly improvement in record, stats, coaching, recruiting, team chemistry. Overall, I think this year was much better than last.
What is your consistent end state?

8-10 Ws/season and occassional ACCCG appearance?

10+ Ws/season and expected ACC Champ titles?

From a football perspective, should our Canes be Wake Forest or Clemson?

This is a critical question the BoT must answer and then set the objectives for the AD.

I suspect they already have and it's the Demon Deacons model.

I don't think its fair to combine Richt and Manny's record.

If we want to be "Miami football", then we need to be what Clemson is now.

Criticize the piece of $#@ un-athletic director and his hand picked clueless coaches.

Leave the kids alone. It's not a lack of effort, it's a lack of intelligence and competency at the administrative level (combined with a touch of apathy) towards taking the necessary steps to creating a program that can compete at a high level.

Do you just enjoy consistently screaming from the top of the world that you're clueless as to how The University of Miami operates?

I'm not combining them, I'm stacking them. If we were improving like you say we are, Manny's records would be better than Richt's.
His record IS better when you compare both of their last years. Are you looking at Richts entire career vs Manny 2 years?

What context are you using?
