I think PICKING UP a defensive holding where a player can be seen to suddenly slow down is worse.Right? I just can’t shake this one. Look at Toney in the middle of the field in the clip I posted, too. He’s bear hugged and clearly held. I don’t even care much about that because that does get missed. Again, I keep going back to the conversation I had with a literal ACC official. It’s like the last possession in a basketball game, the refs have a propensity to swallow the whistle. So you don’t wanna call Toney being held, ok. Awful, but you’re not making a call. But to make this holding call on what is nowhere ******* near a hold….this one’s killing me more than any in recent memory.
In the grand scheme, honestly if they don’t call this and pick up the DPI, the result is the same. But this just smells so bad to me. No matter what, it’s gonna be 3rd and 18. Watch this.
I don’t care, though. Up 17-14 with the ball and then 20-17 with the ball, you have to do whatever is necessary to make the kill.
