The 2019 LSU defense was trash tbh.

They gave up 38 to Texas
38 to frickin’ Vandy
28 to UF
41 to Bama
37 to Ole Miss

The most points Miami surrendered in a game was 27 and they still won that game By over three touchdowns.

I understand that the modern game is more high scoring but that makes Miami’s 42+ points per game even more impressive. The Hurricanes weren’t playing in a no huddle, spread offense. They played in a run oriented pro offense that would usually stop throwing the ball once they got a big lead.

The ONLY positional advantages LSU has is WR and QB. Even then, I’m curious what kind of numbers Miami’s passing game would have put up in a no huddle shotgun offense.

To say they were trash, is kind of a stretch, especially when following with the 'no huddle, spread' comment. Lots of offenses are running that now. I cant say that they were trash...our defense has been trash the couple of season...the LSU defense, did enough.

However, the offense we had back then, with that O-line, would have done whatever they wanted against that LSU defense.

Everybody wants to talk about LSU’s passing attack and how they scored so many points. Ok that’s great, but you really think they could stop Miami? Let’s talk about that O line and back field for a second. They could’ve ran for 300+ and Burrow would have the ball for 20 minutes at best. He makes one mistake and the game is over.

Everybody just assumes bc the offenses today are high flying, that they could simply outscore the older teams. News flash, you need the ball to score points. An elite running game and an elite defense, will always be timeless.
I'm not sold that 2019 LSU could have beaten 2000 UM at the end of the yr....If they'd of had problems with Dre and Shockey (remember Jeff Thomas made them look mediocre by himself) then what TF would Wayne, Shockey and Santana have done to them??....I saw what Jamaal Green did to Vick and VT in 2000....Burrows would have been harassed from the get go....

Seven teams went over 25 points against them. Four opponents went over 35. They weren't "trash" as in bottom of the country bad but if you're compiling a list of all time great teams, they have the worst defense in the entire group. With a lot of these "All Time Great" lists, a lot of stuff is subjective but LSU's 2019 defense was objectively "OK". They were lights out against really bad teams but they gave up a ton of points and yards against most of the good offenses they played. You could even make the argument that their offense was so record breaking because it HAD to be. They had to keep the pedal to the floor 99% of the time because the defense couldn't be counted on to get stops. For example, their game against Ole Miss. It was 31-7 at the half, Joe Burrow ended up taking every single snap in that game because the defense allowed Mississippi to score 30 second half points. If their defense was relatively decent, Burrow gets a majority of the second half off and doesn't end up with almost 500 yards passing.

Yup. There was also a controversial fourth quarter pass from Tebow to Carl Moore. Can't remember if he pushed off or it should've been a non-catch—but it was a 28-yard pick-up on 3rd-and-9 where an incompletion would've had them punting. Instead, 1st-and-Goal from the 5-yard line in a 9-3 football game at the time.
He pushed off and he was actually out of bounds i believe.

Miami beat Nebraska in the Championship game 37-14, but led 34-0 at the half. The first half was such an epic beat down.

lists is bs anyway, why the f isn't 2020 bama on there over 08 uf? Speaking of, why the f isn't last years uga team on there instead of uf?

both those teams would win vs uf

Didn't say that....don't put words in my mouth...
I was being sarcastic... but you're being ridiculous,, you had no idea about just how good those lsu wr's are doing in the nfl, let alone how incredible joe burrow is, as the one poster pointed out. In fact you make it seem like um was miles ahead of them. Dorsey can't hold a candle to burrow, andre is a machine but our WR's are NOT as good as 2019 Lsu.

you just made some snarky comments about them because they aren't miami players. Burrow in his second season put up 70% passing completion and 4,600 yards on 34 Td's and 14 int's on the bengals. He's looking like a complete prodigy and the other 2 lsu wr's are dominant.

give credit where it's due.

miami wins the game, easily.
