Reasons:

Injuries are piling up at DE (JJ, Djax, Rousseau).
Can't count on Djax and Patchan to stay healthy.
Bethel at DE provides help in stopping the run, keeping Garvin and JJ fresher.
Willis, Silvera, Ford, Tito, Miller, Martin can hold it down at DT.
Bethel isn't some plodder who can't move despite the bad weight.
Joyner is still learning the position.
Most importantly, Silvera needs to be on the field more often.

could work out for him as a strong side DE, hasn't made the impact I was expecting at DT this year

This is what happens when you recruit DL like ****. You get a few injuries and you're forced to play guys out of position or forced to play unrosterable, underdeveloped players.

Should never happen at the University of Miami...but here we are.

the depth next year is down right pitiful especially if jj leaves early

I am not saying we always need to recruit positions like DL on par with say...Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State in this recent era where there recruiting annually is just insane in the front seven.

But I don't think its expecting too much to ask if we can at least recruit on par with LSU on the lines.

Like...what we have now needs to be unacceptable to basically any Miami Hurricane fan with a pulse. Its starting to get really bad and it looks like it'll only get worse if things don't fall just right throughout the 2019 recruiting cycle.

This is why Miami needs to take 4-5 guys at d end this cycle depending on if Jackson leaves. Need to have depth like last year on the d line where Garvin was a third team d lineman.

as much as we hated the last coach he left the cupboard pretty well stocked 3 years ago
after 3 cycle by CRM how is our depth worse?
this is unacceptable at least recruit to the level of Golden

Not a good idea. He's already invested time to add the necessary weight (not quite there yet) to move inside. They'd have to do a course correction to move him out to the edge.

Gorlden and NoD did that with Chick. Coaches **** near had him at 300. In this day and age, you're talking about the possibility of only having lineman 3 years. Adding and droppin weight like that can ruin talent

Which is surprising we don’t have more DL on deck in 2019 and 2020

Yep. By year 2 we recognized that Kool wasn't recruiting kids and he was lackluster in that department. You can be the greatest technician as a coach, but if you don't have anyone to coach up, then what good are you?

The coaches fattened him up to make him a DT. Since then he's flashed once, and that was when he chased Duke's QB down and forced a fumble.

He came here to play DE but our recruiting mistakes forced his move inside.

He was always going to eventually grow into a dt
