Like many, he was just campaigning for a job at Miami, he was never a serious candidate.

You think? He’s just weird. Has average to slightly above average reputation as a recruiter/bagman, but I have no idea what he’s like as a coach. Now that the game has changed, he may not be as valuable to a P5 score. Just thinking out loud.
