I disagree, we become irrelevant if the money people leave with him. The structure above the coach is what matters. Oregon didn't become irrelevant when he left. Money talks.

Yea the structure is there but when the higher ups start unbelieving in the HC money starts to get tight. And Oregon was not stupid they hired a recruiter so the program could be stable. If they hired a guy that doesn't eval and close that **** would fall apart as well. The head guy is the key to everything imo.
 
Was Alabama’s best donor to NIL/bagman the head coach?
I mean, how does UF spend money like that with a coach from Tulane and bama not pony up with DeBoar?
It’s not a secret that you need good players.
He either rubs people the wrong way or has completely lost the confidence of the booster base.
Or, he just plain seux at recruiting.

So why did they give him more $ to stay last year . I don’t get it

I touched on this briefly on a separate thread. The donors don’t like him.

There’s more to the story as to why, but that will all come out eventually. Nothing crazy or scandalous.

Doubled his buyout. They only gave him 2 years (to replace the 2 years he already coached) and an annual 2million raise to keep him within the top 5 coaches in football.

Both Michigan and Penn State would’ve paid that previous buyout in a heartbeat.
 
DeBoer’s two previous recruiting classes were ranked 3rd and 2nd in the country. This is a chosen self-sabotaging dilemma by Alabama higher ups to bring about his demise and save money to spend on the new guy’s roster. That’s my theory of the case anyway.

He just got an elite WR so seems like he is still having the success recruiting offensive skill guys and QBs. We’ll see if he can pull Monshun Sales.

His trenches and back 7 recruiting has been pitiful this cycle. The new TE coach got rid of their previously higher rated commit who flipped to Kansas.

I don’t believe he is an ace recruiter but he has had same dline coach this whole time who was a holdover from Saban’s time. Their whole defensive staff has been there since his beginning except the safeties coach who is in his second year. Did they all forget how to recruit too? Did the 2025 season and 2026 recruiting class run their boosters’ and athletic department’s pockets empty?

Alabama made the playoffs and won a game, they split their matchups with UGA and OU, and avenged themselves against the three schools who beat em last year. He’s like 5-0 against Sark and Lanning. Idk who out there would be better & that they’d want, but it appears they no longer want DeBoer.

He made the natty at Washington. If he doesn’t win it all this year, that guy is gone one way or another. It’s not just Saban’s success boosting the fans’ expectations; there’s always been sky-high expectations. Saban was openly pursuing Texas’ job after winning his second national championship in five years at Alabama.

Whether or not that didn’t happen because of annoying Texas boosters or Mack Brown not wanting to retire, who knows. But that wasn’t just a leverage play for a raise. After going back to back and winning 3 in 4 years, idk what changes he received to reduce the stress. But the expectations never really wavered.

I thought he would kill it there but I was wrong. He’s just not a good fit. Fit matters. Brian Kelly at LSU is another example. And I still think he’s a good coach but he belongs on the west coast. I think he could do well at USC.

You don’t think Mario could get it done in Bama? Not that he would leave Miami.

You have stated Mario is the new Saban and a Miami is taking Bamas place at the top.
