Thoughts on this years schedule... (the good, the bad and the ugly)..

a lot is being made of the Miami schedule for '25, specifically the part about them not leaving the state of Florida till Nov 1(at SMU). Hey, they just want to do their part to limit carbon emissions. Also, some other interesting things about the #Canes schedule..

They have two BYE weeks in a three week stretch (Sept 27 and Oct 11, in-between is the game at Tally at FSU. I think that's interesting. It means that the last 7 weeks they play straight through. Depth will be tested in this stretch.

You could make an argument that Miami's 3 toughest games (ND, FL, L'Ville) are at home, I know some will say SMU should be up there, I don't necessarily disagree...

Also, the last two games are road trips in cold weather environments(Vatech and Pitt). And yeah, that Pitt game gives me memory of the coldest game I ever attended, 2003 in their final game in the Big East(about 15 degrees that whole Thanksgiving weekend)

My biggest overall concern is the back-to-back VaTech/Pitt games on the road. Front-end and back-end of the Thanksgiving holiday. Time of the year when all the nagging injuries hurt, and the cold weather doesn't help matters.

My bull gator friend calls it a crime that we don’t leave Florida until November

If our OL & run game is as good as advertised the cold weather should not be a hindrance but a plus. And we now have plenty of non Florida kids on our roster so that should not be an excuse. My gripe with the schedule is front loading all the byes. Its bs no doubt but either way its our job to overcome all that.

I don’t think they’ll be as good as they were last year. And we do catch them off back to back trips to the east coast (Clemson then Wake) with another trip to BC the week after Miami. If they lose to us, they could easily lose to BC the next week and then they get Louisville right after that. It’s their hardest stretch. They could be looking at a 2-3 maybe even 1-4 mid October to mid November.

Compare that to FSU then bye week, then Ville at home, then you destroy lowly Stanford at home and head to Dallas, then a bad Cuse team at home right after. If you’re looking at that game alone, I’d take Miami’s schedule before and after vs SMU’s every single time.

They lost a lot but Lashlee is a good coach. That's gonna be a battle.

To your point, I watched highlights of an old game reecnet where we played Pitt, it was end of 03 I think.

We had 3 picks and 10 sacks. Still only won 28-14… sean Taylor was a madman that game.
