Thoughts on Stevenson and Bogle Announcement

Remember guys ... the negative recruiting going on "Miami doesn't have a S&C coach", "Miami's HC is a rookie", "Your talent is too great for a mediocre program", "the glory days were gone a long time ago and they ain't coming back"

When you are a big time talent ... those arguments are very persuasive.
If you have the brain power of a 5 year old girl.

As many know, priority Hurricane 2019 targets DE Khris Bogle and DB Tyrique Stevenson are announcing at the Army All-American Bowl tomorrow (game beginning at 2 pm). I’ve talked to numerous sources both on the player’s and Miami’s side recently, and I’ll be upfront about it, all that’s clear is there’s no certain answer for who they’re going to choose tomorrow. They’re either both very torn or have done an excellent job hiding their intentions. That doesn’t have me overly confident for Miami; I was hoping to hear something more concrete for UM, especially considering Miami's “announcement day” history and the two programs they’re competing against. Here’s the latest I’m hearing.

The chatter has been heavy on Stevenson, but in both directions. The talk has been mixed coming from his side, with some close to the recruitment saying Miami and some saying Georgia. I’ll say the faction that was pumping up Miami to me 2-3 weeks ago is much less certain what he’ll do. One good source close to the recruitment feels he is playing up both sides. On the positive angle, I can say that Miami’s staff feels very confident they will land him. I can’t say I’m quite as confident, but that is encouraging nonetheless, if only from the standpoint that if the staff wasn’t feeling confident, this would be 100% over. If they land Stevenson, I’m told the deciding factor will be not being able to turn down safeties coach Ephraim Banda, as the two have built an exceptional relationship, and he should be commended for fighting all the way to the end in what has been a topsy-turvy recruitment.

It’s been the polar opposite on Bogle, as there’s been complete silence coming from his camp and they're keeping things close to the vest. So, while I wish I was able to hear more on that side, I’m a little more confident here since there has been nothing really new coming in; Bama had to win him over and status-quo would indicate Miami. One program source feels the fact that he is signing late, yet not taking another visit to Bama before his decision, is also a positive indicator for Miami. I know Bogle’s told both Miami and Alabama he was coming in the past. The staff is aware of this, but despite that, they are confident on landing Bogle as well.

Question: When you say the staff feels confident about a kid, do you think they really are or are they trying to be optimistic. I know you can't read their minds, just wondering what you think. I ask because this has happened time and again and Miami almost always gets left at the alter...don't the coaches start to get jaded at all? Cause me personally, I have no faith either of these guys is coming, and that's based on similar situations in the past. The visiting team always wins the tie.

I will be happy to land either guy but i won't be shocked. If we don't get neither.

Richt really messed this class up and damaged the next one. We can still get on the next and fix it but this one is burnt.
Thank God he finally realized the negative ramifications to the program from his slow and poor decision making.

KB, if you or any of your family are on this board, you won't see the field until your Jr. year if you choose Bama.

If you choose Miami you're an impact player day one and a 1st round pick after your Jr. year.

The business decision is Miami.

We not getting either one. We have won none of these recruiting battles the past few years and I dont see it changing. I think some recruits just use us for leverage against these SEC bagmen. They're just holding out to get the Charger/Challenger with the Hemi instead of the V6 that they're being offered. All the kids who want to be canes have already put pen to the paper.

Just think how expensive they would be if Butch was here recruiting them. They bags would be those extra large leaf one and the cars would have real gold steering wheels.

Lots of Banda and Patke #makethecribgreatagain and posting JJ and Redwine stuff which means No Stevenson

exactly.. these rooks never learn! Jobe 2.0 in that they keep subtweeting recruits who already made up their minds.

Can’t even acknowledge their own players from making the senior bowl? You know redwine just got invited to that this afternoon right?

We will end up no hasellwood, no Bogle and no stevensen. Just a gut feeling that I can't ignore. I pray I'm wrong

History tells me #dontwatchthefinish

Bruh, 3 yrs in a row I stayed home from work during NSD starting w that MT6 class. After 2015, I said never again. I’ll just be pleasantly shocked, but I’m prepared for the class of 2019 to be, on paper, our worst class since they started grading classes in 02. If not, more power.

guess neither of you follow that red JUST got invited to the senior and their safety tandem is now playing in that game. you guys are so soft

Would be an excellent start to the Diaz era if we can land these two studs and get the ball rolling on 2020 as this 19 class will go down as one with MANY.. MANY.. MANY misses which will be revisited at nauseam in the future
Hence why Diaz chopped half the staff and even demoted his former mentee's/co-workers to bring in a DC. You can debate how good/bad the people he hires as replacements are but we can all agree he ain't ******* around
No, he didn't. The changes were not made for recruiting shortcomings. He made the changes to bring in a more effective system on offense and an experienced coordinator on defense. Obviously, the primary consideration was how we were playing in the game, not to strengthen recruiting. Manny didn't emphasize recruiting when he outlined the type of offense and coordinator he wanted.

I was an intern in downtown Detroit drove 30 minutes home for lunch to watch Antoine Smith sign with FSU when he was a Cane lock

Good thing you don't remember how bad JJ's first two classes were.
