thoughts on how to improve passing game

The passing game doesn't need improvement.

Just run the ball more.
Disagree. We can beat alot of teams running the ball but some teams are gonna force us to throw and we will need to create big plays on the outside. Also penalties force us to throw. We need to create more big plays.

They can out the fast guys on the field and or run tempo. If we looking beyond the regular season we must be able to create more big plays, in the running game as well. Pringle needs to play more as well as Lyle getting healthy.

Pretty sure Coach Dawson is reading thru every post. IMHO, the passing game is situational for our opponents, based on their weaknesses defensively and personnel wise. Beck is a game manager and works within the games scheme. But being a manager doesn’t imply he’s not a very good QB. I believe that’s his nature and experience. If you throw in more factors like weather and injuries it takes more adjustments and management. I mean it’s not like Carson is some midget Smurf QB running around, tossing up a prayer and going the running game works,.. oh wait.. is that THIS week?? Go Canes🙌🏽

Without the ability to hit the free agent wire mid-season, there isn't much you can do to drastically improve any aspect of any team.

Bring Cam back....

In all seriousness, Beck will have to play better. He played like **** against UF. UF is a pretty solid defense but they were also without some key pieces. The run game eventually took over but that's because the pass game became a lost cause. Brockenmeyer, Beck, and whatever the **** Bauman was doing need to improve big time.

Lofton needs to become more of apart of the offense. Should be healthy now. Keep progressing Toney and Moore into the offense. Are guys like Daniels and Marion getting open?

First continue the run. That’s our identity this year, need to lean into that and expand to include more outside/counter runs. We got willing wr blockers.

But in passing, I’d like to see more route combos that force two deep safety to commit harder. For instance that pick by Cormani could have been prevented - we ran a dig route but the outside route was an inside hitch that was soft. Basically McClain floated and was able to read more easily where the ball was going and he made a great break on the ball. If the outside wr runs an out route or fade or double move, no chance McClain is able to make the play on the ball.

I would have had the outside runner go deep and then ran a shallow cross to that side of the field with TE or slot.

But Dawson does good job overall. Just need to clean it up a little and get better spacing and maybe slightly different route combos running against two deep/cover 4 because we going to see lots of that.

McClain is a corner and was in straight man to man on that play.

UVA showed that hitting backs out of the back field and using short passes is something that FSU can’t deal with. It’s what we’ve been missing and it’s the blueprint to win the game along with pounding the ball through the tackles. When the safeties over compensate throw over the top.
