Thoughts on 1st year

lol...Vegas line was 7 wins...

I just want to say Miami has been what I expected. I thought might beat fsu this year but a blocked extra point kept us from ot, Miami always has let down after fsu loss and so the second loss didn't shock me the loss to vt our team was coming off 2 tough losses to unc and fsu and the d was beat up and we got hammered on a short week in Blacksburg then lost to nd which has as much talent as we do if not more since Kelly is in year 5 richt year 1.

this is a team most experts picked to win 5 or fewer games, yes we have much better coaching this year, its obvious and the offense problems are the oline fault , and the oline as no depth as witnessed McDermott at lt and has dealt with injuries all year, which limits what offense can do I don't think play calling is the issue as much as kids in 1st year in system and 2 oline not given kayaa time or opening holes when needed in our losses.

I dunno maybe hire a ******* OC so our offense doesn't look like some pop warner schit.

I mean that could be a place to start right?

******* ******.

Jeez, one little comment about your mom and you get all ****y. OC isn't a bad idea.

If you make a kunty comment like a kunty ****, expect a kunty reply in kind crammed up your ****.

Does your mom know you type like that?

She taught me that when a man acts like a kunty **** he should be called out on it.

Wise woman. With quite a potty mouth.

The defense is in excellent hands. Top 15 scoring D with 3 freshman linebackers and a makeshift secondary is impressive.

Yep she's a real American.

Game of inches and bad / good calls... inches and a bad call or two away from being 9-2 or even 10-1.

I have a feeling we will be back next season.

Yeah, but if young Brad don't come back we might have us a case of the day ja voo this time next year.

Vegas line was 6.5. We now have 7 wins. We are better than what Vegas predicted.

Are we still going with this potato logic? Hasn't this chit been disproven enough?

So you are basically arguing against reality. You can't disprove actual facts. The Vegas line was 6.5 wins. We currently have 7 wins. Miami exceeded the Vegas prediction for wins. This is not an opinion, it is reality. If you had put money down on Miami before the season, you'd be collecting right now. Sorry if it doesn't play into your narrative that Miami should have won 10+ games this year. We did better than the experts predicted. Reality's a b#tch, ain't it?

That's not what I am saying you ***ing potato. I am not sure you know how over/under works or what Vegas is trying to do.

I also know you're the potato who porsted this gem..."This was Kaayas most important game of his career. Had to stop the bleeding. He balled today".

It might be better to post your thoughts on the first season after the season is actually over.

Then again, you've joined the "band" again, so it doesn't particularly matter....

The record has not improved but I still believe the team has improved this year. The 2015 team was not as good as its record stated. We actually got outscored on the year, lost games by 37 and 58 points and were struggling at halftime with FAU. We finished #49 in Sagarin last year and are #20 this year. There's been more progress than the W-L indicates.

We'll probably finish 8-4 and I'm not going to predict the bowl. With that being said I believe next year will provide us with a better idea of how Richt's tenure is going. Even coaches regarded as great often don't produce a lot in their first year (i.e. Saban, Carroll) and Richt is actually doing better than they did in year 1. By year 2 they have something going although as often as not the full fruits of the coaching change don't arrive until year 3. Saban and Carroll lost 2 games their 2nd year and didn't win a title until year 3. Urban Meyer has produced quicker results but he never has inherited a bad situation. He got Zook's recruits at UF and Tressel's recruits at Ohio State. (With Fickell being interim coach for 6 months in between.)

Golden and Shannon also had bad 1st years, which is the counterpoint. Shannon was familiar with the players when he took over and on defense wasn't changing the schemes very much. He truthfully didn't have a lot of excuses to go 5-7 his 1st year, especially with 38 and 48 point losses. Golden had more of an excuse for a poor 1st year since he was bringing in more new schemes and didn't have much familiarity with the players. Granted things never got much better in later years under Golden.

Richt will finish strong like he did at UGA, but when the pressure is on, I don't think he gets his team ready. He loses big games too often. Miami lost to every major opponent this season, (va tech on Thursday night, FSU, UNC, & Notre Dame).

Richt will be beat Pitt, ga tech, & uva teams like that. But you have to win big games.

Yeah Richt usually seemed to do better at the end of seasons at UGA but struggle at midseason. In the Golden, Shannon and later Coker years we had the opposite problem where we tanked at the end of the season after being decent for 7-9 games.

Miami will 9 games every year at least. That's Richt's average. Recruiting the "right players" (Dalvin cook, Calvin Ridley, Amari Cooper type) will get the 11 & 12 win seasons.

Isn't this true for any coach?

As flawed as the team is, the offense cost us an opportunity to be 10-1 right now. Speaks to how weak our schedule was this year. Also shows that I would hope we are back to 10 wins and a Coastal title next year

The season is disappointing, even if Miami wins out and finishes 9-4. The expectations may have been high but that's Miami. Fans expect better. Finishing on a 5 game winning streak will take some of the sting away, especially if the Canes beat a solid team in bowl game and end up ranked.

If Kaaya comes back, we may lose 1-2 games max next year. That front 7 on D gone be so nasty.

I agree with the front 7 next year but if we dont have anyone that can cover it wont make a difference. We need a grad transfer/Juco CB next year again but it will need to be a really good one(not saying Colbert sucked) cause I dont see anybody currently being that lockdown corner
The one or two he cost us is my guess

I think it's pretty obvious that we are overall a better team this year. Which is not the same thing as as saying this was a good or acceptable year.

Offense has maybe regressed a bit, but more than offset by the defense. Not even close to being outclassed this year. Clemson game, people.

The teams we beat looked outclassed by us. How many comfortable wins did we have last year? Not even a case, as far as I can see.

Recruiting I thought would be better.
