Thomas Brown to join staff

I thought that McClendon guy would be co-oc? Does this mean he us not coming now if the rb coach is co-oc

Maybe we will have two Co-OC's although that would be strange with Richt calling the plays.

McClendon seems like a pretty hot commodity so I hope we get him.
That is my thinking also I don't see there being to co-oc with richt calling plays so that may mean McClendon is not coming

I doubt any HC would give themselves the title of co-OC. He has to have a plan of bringing in someone else.

My guess is he wants Brown and BMac as co-OCs.

I think this is a very good hire. He is moving up the ranks fast and Richt seems to think he's a good coach. Lets see the positives, he is a young, probably energetic coach, who has played the position at a high level in HS, College, and some in the pros. He brings a wealth of different things he's learned over the years and if he is half as good as Richt thinks he might be then he can teach those things too. Most important thing in a coach is not what he knows, it's what he can teach. Downfall is that he is young??? Worth the risk IMO. Good coach who is becoming very good recruiter that has the playing resume and can connect with kids.

Give him the title of CO-OC with BMac (one is run game coordinator the other is pass game coordinator and it happens everyday) and pray that these two are coming to Miami. I am fine with the titles since Richt should be calling plays. These guys won't be here long if we are successful because it's easy to get a job if you already hold the title so they will be calling plays somewhere soon for a raise if we are successful. I promise you that at the least we will not lose the amount of kids we are losing that are truly elite difference makers in S. Fl.

i just dont get that Richt is brining guys from a staff that had 9 wins and would have had 10 if chubb didnt break his leg in the tennessee game and u guys want to keep coaches from a team that struggles to beat mid level ACC teams. smh

also, a noticeable difference between richt and golden is he hires former players and coaches. Golden never had former players or coaches from VA, BC,etc come with him.

but we need Coley to find QB's because richt has only coached charlie ward, danny kanel, chris weinke, dj shockley, aaron murray, matthew stafford, etc.

Where did I ever say I wanted to keep the current corches. I want the current coaches gone for the same reasons I'm skeptical about the UGA ex-player welfare program. I have watched 15 years of poorly coached Canes teams that were loaded with talent but underperformed bc of amateur coaches.

And the blind faith in Mark Richt is something that I will not be doing this time around. Btw, for a guy who was an SEC coach for 15 years, his coaching tree is pretty light in the ***.

Says the guy worshiping Richt with his handle. You sir, are a joke.

No one should be going in blind either.

Oh great. Now Richt sucks because he didn't hire a guy that nobody had heard of until 2 months ago.

Hey if you want to blindly support a guy who is filling our staff with a bunch of former Bulldog players, thats on you.

I explicitly stated that I want an elite experienced staff here. Not a welfare program for the recently graduated UGA player.....

But you all were okay with bringing back former Miami players? Smh.
.

Who says we were even in the running for Don brown? You act like richt passed on him but it's more likely that he has been talking to Harbaugh ever since durkin left. Maybe he did call durkin. You have no idea

Do you ever read the board? I was fully against bringing in former UM players.

I'm fully against bringing in any young inexperienced coaches. I'm fully against giving handouts to friends and guys who played for you. Enough already.

So you're not arguing that it was a smart hire. Who would you have gone after instead was my main point. You left that out conveniently

I'm just not sure what all the fuss is about. Who were we anticipating at RB coach? I had either Ice being retained or BMac (UGA) sliding over.

Take the Super-G jersey out of his closet and Brown appears to fit what most people think of at RB coach - young, played the game, good place to put a "recruiter." Plus his resume has a couple legit stops on it - not like he just started coaching this year...

This move shouldn't really be all that surprising or bothersome. Personally I'm saving my faux outrage for the DC =P

Read the handle out loud to yourself. You might get it then.

I'm not mad at the coach. I'm irritated by what appears to be filling the staff with a several young guys that used to be his former players. Aka the exact thing I did not want to see.

McClendon - Passing Game coordinator
Brown - Running Game coordinator.
Lilly - TE/Assistant HC

I understand but you had to figure that was coming, no? They were on his staff at UGA. And from everything I've read they were doing a fine job as coaches. It's not like he hired Leonard Pope as TE coach or forced AJ Green into retirement to coach WRs.

yeah Thomas Brown is too young. lets bring back a 90 year old don solindger smh. Give richt a chance.

HAHAHA you know what, that is the one area where i think Coley is Elite. Projecting what a QB can become. Most of the guys on the list above where almost can't miss propects, but Richt did a great job coaching them up and calling simple plays that produced. However if we can recruit QBs like the list above again then i don't think we'll need to identify under the radar talent. Win win.

i just dont get the fans trying to create a position for coley. i mean this offense was not good this year. Kehoe was the only one i would give a break because he lost Flowers and Gadbois. he recruited well they were just young and got better as year went on. Beard i would consider keeping too as a support staff but mcclendon is much more accomplished.

good move by Brother Richt. Since he's calling plays, he'll use the tandem of Brown and BMac to recruit the **** out of the south to bring him the most unbelievable athletes to execute his explosive offense.
