Thomas Brown Excoriates Offensive Performance vs. UNC

I would like to see a HB draw sprinkled into the gameplan with all the 5 step routes we have been running. Feel like the d-lines we play are starting to pin their ears back.

There’s ALOT of things Richt can do to slow that pass rush down he just doesn’t do it for whatever reason.

Screens, draws, reverses are ALL used AGAINST US.We just don’t use them much in our offense.

Seems like everything we run takes 4-5 seconds to develope and Malik takes a couple looks and he’s off.

A lot of this is on Richt but the players have to execute what he does call.

Seems like we haven't run reverses, draws, misdirections, screens in about 10 years here.

There were several screens vs UNC called. CMR has also called draws. No reverses that I can recall.

F*ck Lunch meat Tech!!!!

Exactly. There was the one screen called on Saturday, if you remember, which was perfectly timed, and perfectly set up.

Rosier flat out misses the throw in the flat, and the ball hits the ground. He makes that (basic) throw, and Homer scores, and it's game over. Travis could have run all the way back to coral gables on that one. As soon as I saw it develop, I yelled "TD!" ... only to see the ball snuffed into the turf. Can't blame the play calling on that one.

We did not deserve to win that game. Just a horrific effort.

Might have come at a perfect time...

Yes we did. We won the turnover battle by large margin. That is usually the difference in most games. Sure the offense stunk up the place by not scoring on any of those turnovers but those stops were the difference -- they didn't score on any of them either.

May have to let the defense win it. Don't be surprised if Coach plays it conservative. Like real conservative.

Thomas Brown is useless.

He and Jon Richt need to kick rocks.

Eh, I'm fine with brown coaching running backs. He actually gives the most informative interviews too so that's a plus. What Im not fine with is him getting an oc salary- he should be paid like a position coach with a moderate premium for helping Richt with game planning.

Jon Richt should be an offensive assistant. We all know that. However, someone deserves a SHI$$ TON of credit for turning a jag, transfer candidate who barely watches film into a serviceable starter.

Does anybody know what he does besides coach running backs?

He and Jon Richt are stealing money from this university.

This is in no way an indictment of Thomas Brown but let's be real. This would be like talking to Kool about the entire defense struggling. That said, everything he said is true.

I don't really have much of an issue with the playcalling it was just a thought. I feel like we haven't seen alot of draws from the offense. I think this week that Donaldson gets a majority of the snaps at guard over Gaynor/ Mahoney this week. I think he gives us the best chance to get a push up front and get the running game going again. Can't wait for Saturday

Claiming that anyone on Rick's staff is "stealing money" is a clown narrative, bro. The head coach is essentially underpaid by today's standards and just gave $1 mil back. You can't just cherrypick salaries to attack.

Real talk I have been saying these two truths about this game: Coach Richt kept it vanilla because he's holding back for the two biggest games of his tenure and of the past decade for Miami. He doesn't want to put anything on tape that he doesn't have to.

As for the players they could give two s#!ts about UNC and it showed. Thats the visual of a team still learning its way to greatness. They are still learning how to stay cranked up for 12-15 games a season. The way the team plays when it matters most is ultimately indicative of this. I firmly believe playing at an 8 out of 10 intensity or higher this team can blowout 90% of teams, let alone if they play 10 out of 10. But they had zero interest this past weekend. Gift and a curse. Sucks that we suffer in the media and in the polls for it, but surely some if not many of those turkeys at VT will under estimate us and pay for it.

We came up with timely turnovers but allowed a million 3rd downs and nearly two 100 yard rushers to a 3rd string QB and backup RB.

I'm fine with sweeping it under the rug but we got lucky.

Kool is assistant hc

So was Luigi at Alabamy. Doesn't mean you'd exactly go to him first to talk about their ENTIRE offense. Just saying that we all know Brown is OC in title only. Not a criticism of his accurate statements to Porter either but just an acknowledgement of the real chain of command/decision making on offense.

I think we come out focused Sat. night. I expect us to play well and execute well. If we do that, we win. VT is the team that has to play 'great' to win. If we play really good and execute, we win.

You have zero insight to how the coaches spend their time yet you have insight to how we should spend money? Brown does two jobs for 600,000 and J. Richt coaches QB’s and recruits. Do you really think the head coach is spending all of his time with Quarterbacks and the offensive game plan?

Are you going to answer my question or just rant like an irrational woman?

Didn't you answer your own question, Mary? He's a glorified RB coach and obviously an OC in training. You're the one crying about someone else's money like a jealous woman.

I hope you are right. I tend to agree with you on both the vanilla offense and looking past UNC. My fear is we are wrong and we have to beat two great teams with what we have already seen.

Richt needs to figure out how to get Malik into a rhythm early. A few bubble screens to start, a quick down and in or seam pass etc.

We need to go all New England Patriots on them early, quick strikes. Get the D Line a little winded early, play with tempo and rhythm.
