This timeline is unnecessarily chaotic

It is an original thread, because he’s showing the linkages and process. You can do these things all at once, and the longer we wait the worst position it puts the football program in.
I think you’re looking at this the wrong way say we fired manny after duke with all these changes. The perception would be “Miami missed out.” Keeping manny employed implies the only open job is ad and most outside national media assumes that guy will hire the coach. Add to that I think secretly the new money boosters top 3 or 4 realistic options are still on the board for HC.

Um, no, I think a deal is essentially done.
But who made the deal? Is it the same people who were pushing for Jurich? They apparently didn't win that one. We all know people at Miami aren't pulling in the same direction. That was made evident by the early part of the AD search. So why would the hiring of Cristobal be any different?

Lets say Frenk and his guys push forward an AD that gets hired. That AD has a different established P5 coach ready to come to Miami. Are we gonna cut the AD off at the knees before he is 2 weeks in? Maybe every AD interview begins with are you cool with backing the Cristobal play

We don't know that or sure.

It seems that the leaks are coming from someone who is trying to throw a monkey wrench in the process.

That just speaks to the differing agendas. So why would Cristobal's hiring be such a lock? I'm sure the people who can't help but talk to people on this board think it's a go. But they're not the only ones involved.

I just find it hard to believe we would remain in a holding pattern if we weren't really close to a deal.

Mario probably interviewed when he went to see his sick mamá, and we're hammering out details with his agent.

That's my guess.

My best guess is whoever ends up AD knows they get to be made to look like they let Diaz go.
I still want Prez to special guest fire him with Manny Sr. in the room. It'd be a good ole F yo couch to the political influencers that stain this program. And by Prez, I mean The Don, aka Orange Man Bad.. Use that slogan that made him so much chedda.

Lots of posters are saying how no AD would want to come and not pick his own coach, but that happens all the time. Most AD jobs, I would surmise, are taken with coaches already in place.

Mario is, by all indications, the exact type of coach any AD would want. Honest, loyal, tough… no me-first attitude that might bring negative attention.

Id argue it is beneficial, in a way, for the new AD to come with Mario included as part of the deal - plausible deniability. “Hey, I didn’t pick him, don’t blame me. If you authorize me to pay his buyout, I’ll hire my own guy.”

Until Oregon announces a Mario extension, I am impatiently waiting. It’s pretty obvious what is going on here.

If Mario stays in Oregon and they won’t hire Lane, then it seems like the move is to hire an AD and let them pick their own guy. Unfortunately that means another year of manny, but this is a product of the current landscape. Luke Fickell just missed out on big time jobs because his team is in the playoffs. **** happens.

This is not a decision that can be rushed.

You're underestimating Miami and the potential of Miami "Miaming".

And I think the inevitability of Diaz's firing has been overstated.

Entirely possible Mario had told anyone that he won't discuss anything (new contract with Oregon, Miami) until after the championship game. If Miami is truly holding it's water merely for the sake of not offending Mario, then that's another concern.

The mistake was waiting so long to fire Blake. Should have done that earlier so we already had an ad by this time. Or at the very least they should have already completed tons of due diligence on other candidates by the time they fired him so the process of hiring a new ad could move swiftly. They knew all season long Blake was on thin ice or likely on the way out. It does not appear that the administration was proactive.

Honestly, I think Blake would still be AD if not for Kirk Herbstreit’s rant.

Public embarrassment is just about the only thing that spurs the school to act.

Coker might’ve gotten another year without the FIU brawl.

Did anyone ever think it wouldn't have been chaotic if the one guy hadn't been leaking to stir sht up and get his way?

Anyone having panic attacks now based on that info is playing right into his hands.

We have three big announcements to make:

1. AD hired

2. Manny fired

3. New coach hired

We can’t announce all three at once because that would be absurd. These announcements are going to have to be staggered.

So which is the first domino to fall and when?

If we’re waiting on a certain PAC 12 coach, does the prospective AD already know that a football hire has essentially been made?

Are AD/HC a package deal?

Would we announce those at the same time?

Would we hire a new AD and have him be the one to axe Manny? That seems a bit odd considering he wouldn’t have had time to really evaluate him.

I think Manny has to go first, but when?

Seems like either tomorrow after all the pre-game press for the P12CG is done, or we hold off until Monday.

I can’t stand Manny, but **** that’s a long time to have him and his coaches twisting in the wind. Staff jobs are going to be filling up quickly.

Regardless, dominos need to start falling, and soon.
Why?

It’s only chaotic because it’s not following the timeline the fans want.

People are gonna complain either way. Had we rushed they’d say we need to take our time. Now we’re not going fast enough and they’re mad.

At the end of the day if we get the people we want in there and they are good hires then what does it matter

Let's say they are waiting until after the Pac 12 championship out of respect for Oregon's season. There's no reason to drag the AD hire out this long. The AD could be "evaluating" Diaz this entire time while Oregon's game plays out.

Instead, it seems like the AD will be hired, Diaz fired and Cristobal hired all within short period of time.

Uh Oh the new thread police are out. Hey , there's plenty of Advertising dollars here for the bandwidth for new threads. We got threads from 2011 we can access still.

Good post man. I agree this timeline is ridiculous
