This Season Is Mario’s Year 1 and Its going to be a Great One.

I personally don’t think that’s a good take. Remember Kirby and Sagan’s very first years? They were scratches. Mario is the man for the job. This is the real year one.
Kirby and Saban had monster improvements in their second year. Kirby coming a few plays away from a Natty and Saban going 12-2. If we’re going to excuse Mario’s first season using these 2, then we need to expect a big leap for Mario this season and no excuses. Winning 10 games would shut a lot of people up and really help recruiting.

I’m setting the bar at 9 wins with a bowl game. No more excuses. Manny’s guys are gone. His O-line is completely overhauled. We have a supposed future NFL caliber QB and a defense with enough talent to be great under Guidry. I understand we have new coordinators this year but this is major college football. What school keeps their OC/DC for more than 2 years? If they’re any good, they take better jobs elsewhere. If they suck, they get the boot.

Unfortunately in modern big-time football there are no mulligans. No freshman rule to erase the F in calculus.

New high profile coaches need to hit the ground running their first year on the field and in recruiting. The good news is that Manny left the cupboard full and Mario recruited his *** off last year. The bad news is that Mario **** the bed on Saturdays. Middle Tennessee State, Duke etc.

Really need a huge year or it's going to get ugly. But I think it's doable.
Manny most certainly did not "leave the cupboard full." Thats why there has been such a huge purge, with a good half the roster overturned and some (Kinchens for instance) of the handful of good Manny player holdovers making comments about how so many players last year were lazy and entitled and not interested in working hard, just having fun.

Let me clarity. Yes this is year 2 technically and literally. This is the second year he's the actual coach. What I mean by my "year 1" comment is this is the first year the team is taking shape in the image he has imagined in order to bring the U back to prominence. I expect the year to be vastly improved in order to help recruiting and to justify the commitment the university has invest into Mario & Co. My bar for the season is 8+. I mostly agree with your take I just have faith that things will actually look up drastically this year vs last.

Mario come here and stepped in a big pile of steaming sh--t , I'm more disappointed and surprised than anyone. If this year's team resembles last year's ill begin to worry. Until then let the man work!

Last year was a scratch.. not able to get the right coordinators, injuries, and lack of talent.

This year complete roster overhaul… elite recruiting in high school and transfer portal. The right coordinators and a full year for Coach Mario to get the foundation and his plan in place.

Really excited for the season I can tell we are going to surprise a lot of ppl with the level of success we’re going to have this season and how it will further benefit us on the recruiting front this class and going forward.

MARIO IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB… I’m just enjoying the ride these next 10+ years under his program.

Dear passengers, I am sorry we're crashing the plane into a mountain, I screwed up and the engines are on fire. If we survive, I'll do better next time, maybe we'll land safely! If only I had checked the engines before takeoff I could have prevented this disaster. (MTSU scored on us just as he says that)

Sincerely

Pilot Mario C.

Here’s to hoping that this first season is better than last year’s first season. With any luck, we’ll be playoff contenders in Mario’s 2024 first season.

Why does Mario get 3 years before he’s judged, but we fired manny after 3 years?
From my perspective, I've been here for the last 20 years of total buffoonery and incompetence. There's no possibility for everything (local HS relationships, team culture and attitude, overall talent) to be fixed overnight. The first ~ 2 years of the MC regime have been a good start but there's a lot of rot that needs to be cleaned out before things will be where they need to be.

Yeah that’s a cute take, but no. This is year 2. We can put the past behind us and forget about our putrid 5-7 season but it still happened.

You 2024’ers are putting a lot of faith in Jacurri Brown and an extremely lackluster QB room once TVD leaves.
I'm trusting guys like @Cribby who say there will be another QB coming in at some point before end of this year or early next year. I'm assuming a portal QB either someone who enters the portal or someone who we backchannel.
