This says it all

Man its hard to win 4 top 10 games in a row. We were a blocked punt away from doing it.

I would definitely like to get a bye, and only have to win 3. Should be the natural next step.

Beck, Dawson and our offense outscored Mendoza and IU 21-20. And we missed a FG. We put more points up.

Sad what bit us in the *** in this game was a blocked punt.

this is why people **** me off hating on dawson

as if he's supposed to effortlessly have us have 500 yards against a 15-0 team

fletcher's misdirection goal line TD was an incredible play call and the offense did enough to win a title. Beck has his limitations and assuming we can get similar WR production and solidify the OL, Mensah can take us to new heights

It’s just soul crushing how much we follow this team on these boards and going to games for us to come up that short and now go back to square one.

I wanted that ugly *** gold trophy so bad. No one could’ve ever taken that from us
Maybe don’t look at it as going back to square one. I don’t see it that way. I genuinely hope that isn’t what all y’all are thinking because that assumes some things about the program that are quite defeatist and I truly believe are no longer the case.

You gotta appreciate the journey too. It’s not just about the destination.

Miami is in great shape w Marios leadership perspective and drive. Couple that w the commitment by the school/donors etc..
Miami will be back in contention next year and every year.

Tough pill to swallow last night
I think we lost it more than Indiana won it
But as some others have said, sometimes you have to learn hard lessons and be better…

I have NO DOUBT Miami will do that!!!

We need this fuel! I feel like wither Miami will be giving opponents **** next year because they know what success looks like and they need to finish what they started or we will fold under the pressure

You guys are acting as if we're gonna go back to year 1 Mario next season. He's building us into a machine. I told a few buddies of mine this last night - I equate this to Georgia when they lost to Bama in the championship in Atlanta, before going on to win 2 in a row.

Look at the Dodgers and how they lost multiple titles before they went on their run. Our Florida Panthers - got wrecked by Vegas, before going back to back.

Lose big > lose small > win small > win big.

Well said truth and great job by Mario this year. He took leaps forward as a head coach this year, particularly after SMU, and he deserves the recognition and the accolades.

I agree- I think he’s a better coach and I won’t pencil in the two “bad” losses to inferior teams each season in 2026. That means we should win the ACC and get a bye to the quarterfinals with a favorable matchup. Can’t get too down when odds are really good we will be two games away from redemption next season.

Listen, IU is a **** good defense. Dawson and Beck put more points up than Ohio State did with all that firepower. We scored above what IU allows on average. And our offense outscored Mendoza and IUs.

Is Dawson some ground breaking trend setting creative mind? Probably not. But he dialed up some nice calls that hit last night.

Fletchers 2nd TD, that pulled Mali around, fake toss, and handback to Fletcher was a nice design.

Mali’s TD - implemented toss action to Fletcher wide, while Mali took the toss the other way.

IU is a 16-0 defense. No one is running up 500 yards and 38 points on them. We did what we had to do on offense, which was outscore the opponents offense.

We choked a punt away. And paid the price big time. Wasnt even an exotic punt block, they were playing a safe punt coverage.

Dawson is not a championship OC.

Corey Heatherman is a championship DC.

Overall, our Canes must correct the penalty miscues to near 0 or they will never be a championship team.

Heatherman is a championship DC. Held Mendoza and IUs WR to 20 total points, and 186 yards passing, with a serious attrition problem at CB.

Used elite DL play with Moten, Mes, and Bain….and my goodness, what are they feeding Lightfoot? The hit he put on that RB, who is solidly built at 220lbs, was viscous. Then he explodes upfield after that hit to run Mendoza down. The traits on that one play are freakish. That kids frame should be a S&C Teams science project this offseason.

I interpret it as not starting from square one as a program, but rather as starting from square one of going through a new season. Like you said, it is a journey, but there are no guarantees and plenty of variables (injuries and just plain luck) to get to where the Canes were this year. It took 23 long years to get back to a National Title game and in that time in between, there were only 2 seasons where the Canes still had a shot going into November.

To your point, the program is in a much stronger position than it has been since 2002. Mario has built it to where it has been relevant the last 2 years and it looks like it will continue to be that way moving forward in the near future. I think the concern is the emergence of the portal comes with great opportunity and great risk. A program can go to great heights if the right guys are brought in each year, but it can be torn apart just as quickly with the wrong ones. There is little continuity from season to season so it is much harder to predict success. The Canes will be onto 3 straight years of a new QB1, none of which developed here.

I just pray Mario keeps Miami as a popular destination in the annual portal sweepstakes.
