Compare the breakdown of Miami vs USC, one is 21st the other is 6th...guess who's who

Look, I'd love to see UM as high as possible.

However, many of the schools ranked ahead of us...are viewed as "more desirable" by many people, not just that author.

Yes, USC is way too high at #6, as evidenced by their last couple of coaching searches.

And Miami should be 5 spots higher.

But I can't make much of an argument for Miami to beat out anyone in the Top 15.

It's not really about Miami per se, I just used that as an example of the questionable rankings for obvious reasons.
That said I still question how anyone can continue to list the lack of an on campus stadium as a draw-back. I've been to close to a dozen on campus stadiums around the country and I don't see what "we're" supposedly missing? Is the ability of students to be able to walk to games a major advantage? Anyone who thinks Hard Rock is a disadvantage has never been.

It's also outdated because part of USC's appeal was that there was no professional football in LA for a long time. If you wanted to show love for the city, you picked one of the college teams.

USC's reputation is in tatters and is now known by most of the US for 3 things:
1) OJ Simpson's alma mater
2) program that got stripped of titles for cheating
3) the school that was accepting bribes from Aunt Becky to admit her moron children

UGA at #1 is a complete joke, it's a good job but its nowhere near the best in the country.

The top 3 imo should be Texas, Oh St & Oklahoma. You can shuffle around & argue for a lot of other programs, but the list shouldn't be based on the success of a particular coach, rather the ability for any coach to either make or continue to make the program a success, along with finances & recruiting.

FSU has been sh*t without Jumbo & they're never going to return to prominence until they get an elite HC which ain't happening for a long time.

UF is always garbage, always has been always will be, even when Urby was there, pure garbage of a program.

The reason why Bama isn't the resounding #1 because it's all Saban & not the program, after Saban retires they're finished unless they find the next Saban to replace him. That's a job that only an Elite coach can win at, they have big money boosters & will always recruit well but without a top notch Coach they can't hang (see Dubose/Franchione/Shula years).

Miami because of the potentiality of having dominant recruiting in the region that produces some of the best football players on Earth when we're a winning program, will always put us higher on the list than people might expect. Considering we're a small private school with no stadium of our own we should actually be way further down the list. But the fact that we've had success over long time periods with multiple coaches & produced multiple HOF players puts in perspective how great the UM job really is if you're a halfway decent HC.

Look at it this way, Al ****face Folden is arguably the worst talent evaluator in College football & without doubt the worst Coach in modern school history & even he accidentally has multiple productive players currently in the NFL. Not because of him, but because of the program & the region. That's what separates Miami from everywhere else, you can put on a blindfold randomly throw a dart at a map of the tri-county area & by pure happenstance find an elite Football player.

Pin this motherfūcker and never remove it.

Texas is not as good as you think- unlimited resources but basically have to spend 75% of your time kissing the asses of boosters, who all think money buys them the right to meddle. Its well known that this a a huge issue at Texas.

That's true, but Texas is a state that produces a lot of great football players & with an unlimited Warchest if they get the right coach can be a team that has long sustained periods of success.

I put Oklahoma & Oh St up there because those are programs that are always successful regardless of the coach, they are usually among the tops in recruiting & are also schools with blank check financial support.

Whether you like it or not, USC Is a superior job to Miami. You have significantly more resources, the area produces a ton of elite talent and you are in a conference where even if you are slightly above average, you will cruise to 10-11 win seasons. Think about it. Clay Helton is average as all ****, he has two major bowl appearances in 4 full seasons at USC.

The problem with USC right now is that the athletic department administration is a joke. They continue to hire ex jocks to run it, ignoring the fact that the programs that win are hiring career professionals, who understand not only sports, but business as well. Lynn Swann is a smart guy, but he isn't even close to being the kind of leader a school like SC needs in the athletic department. Same with Pat Haden. Those were dumb hires, when you have guys like Greg Byrne and others around that they could have easily poached. SC with an intelligent, business savvy guy in charge would be deadly. They have the resources to drown the entire Pac-12.

Texas is a great job for the right coach. If you are a great politician, then the job will go well. If you only want to coach football, the job will be ****. Then again, it's no different than at any other major program. Boosters rule the roost, you have to keep them happy. You will fight that same battle at Ohio State, Michigan, anywhere else.

Hot take: I think a sleeping giant in CFB is Stanford. If they ever actually decided to take football seriously and hit up the bajillionaire tech moguls for bag drops, they would be basically unstoppable. Parents could be "home-based tech support" for Google or Facebook and get paid hundreds of thousands to sit at home and play on computer, and NCAA wouldnt be able to do anything about it. The facilities they could build for the recruits would make Alabama's operation look like a Chuck E. Cheese.

Metro area, great weather, one of richest recruiting grounds, and elite academics, they could be a juggernaut if they ever decided they wanted to win a CFB championship and started cheating like most of the SEC schools (having test takers taking tests to get recruits into school, way lower admission standards for football players, giant duffel bags of cash, fake jobs for relatives, etc).

Zero chance the UGA job is better than Bama job. CMR had to beg and plead for everything he got there, and historically they have been very cheap. Bama would invade Canada if it was required to win.

if you don't see the disadvantage then you haven't been to many on campus stadiums where everything is right there and creates a much better atmosphere overall. I love UM and been going to games since i was 7 but didn't go there, like many others due to cost. I did go to a school that had an on campus stadium and the buildup the whole week when people start coming in on Wednesday and the whole place starts going crazy, is unique and awesome. We don't have that. The stadium is great but it doesn't beat a less awesome stadium that would sit on campus. That just my opinion.

I know some of the purists will not like this, but Miami football doesn’t just belong to the students.

That insane, intimidating atmosphere that helped Miami change the face of football wasn’t created by 15,000 students. It was 15,000 students plus 60,000 rowdy maniacs living in s. Florida.
