This Offense is Legit

I’ve said this for months that they should have went portal again. They have all panned out so why let a 6th year guy who hasn’t been healthy his entire career and hasn’t shown anything get the nod at center
Give it time bro. Remember how Brockermeyer was getting his **** pushed in early in the season, then come playoff time and he’s out there looking like an All American.

I thought ryan was solid besides a few off snaps. Gotta rewatch tho

need improvement from the OL, and i thought the pass defense (both rush and coverage) was a little concerning even though they only gave up 6 points. but there's lots of runway to improve, and my goodness do we look lethal through the air. traveling across the country, playing a conference opponent on a friday night to open the season and we do this? whew
You're right from the exit of the game, that push rush and coverage had me worried, BUT we should treat every holding as if it's a TFL or sack cause they likely would have been or at the very least major pressure on the QB that could have led to a interception or pass break up etc. and did we ever have lots of holding calls, the most in a game including last year I'd imagine.

Remember this a P4 team (albeit not strong at all) who already has won vs an average G6 team.

Davis Warren is legit though, he's certainly got NFL traits and they're running an NFL style offense to really make him shine for the NFL scouts.

My thing with the o-line run blocking was going off what people were saying that saw practices. They all talked about how great the run blocking was and that don’t be surprised if they lean on the run early in the season and it was the opposite. But y’all seem to forget that the run game wasn’t great last year until late in the season and into the playoffs. Had 8 games averaging under 4.0 ypc. And if you want to use pff none of the o-lineman except Francis had a good run blocking grade last year

Only getting one sack against that team is concerning. I dont think the D is anywhere near as bad as Cam's year. Also, remember 2019 LSU didnt have some all time defense either....that team should be our blueprint
Pass rush struggled to get home. Wilson was underwhelming and scroggins struggled. It’s gonna be an issue all year.

I didn't think we could get close to the Cam year, but after seeing us utterly crush Stanford with 544 yards of total offense, Mensah with 400 yards, and Toney breaking the school record for passing yards in a game, this offense is the real deal.
I would not say legit until they move the ball against better teams. It does look promising.

Wilson got a few pressures and made a big play in the red zone. You not going to get a bunch of sacks every game. As elite as Bain was last year he only had 4.5 sacks in the regular season. Had 5 in the playoffs. But he created a lot of pressure

HUGE if b/c there are glaring holes in pass pro and in the run game. Mario and Mirabal have their hands full.
I don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to pass protection, the pass protection was actually excellent last night. What they need to work on is getting a little more push in the run game. But pass protection was great.

One thing I hope Mensah does when the games get bigger is pull the ball and run

He gave it up a few times and no one respected him and he walked his RB into like 3 defenders

Could gash some teams if he decides to keep one
I couldn’t agree more. I’m fine with him not taking the hits in a blowout season opener but there’s no point in calling a zone read if the quarterback isn’t going to read. He could have easily pulled at least two or three and gotten big chunks.

Save those for Clemson and Notre Dame.

Has me super nervous. Rodriguez was already limping out there by beginning of the fourth. Guards got ZERO push. Like zero lol
Rodriguez was fine out there and healthy. But I agree on the guard spots, I was a little surprised at the lack of push they were getting. I think we’ll see a little more Cantwell and Congdon to see if we can correct that issue at those two spot spots.

Cam was also playing with a bunch of UDFA receivers.
Can we stop talking about past here?! **** guys, that was two years ago. Let’s talk about the team we have now and stop comparing them. It gets so ******* annoying around here when everyone wants to compare this guy to this guy and so on and so forth. I’m gonna say it, Mensah played excellent last night and he played just as good as I ever saw Cam play. End of story.

I said before the season that Dawson’s ability to adapt to his personnel would be very telling in 2026. This is more 2024 offense than 2025, yet people continued to say we need to pound the rock, be balanced, and we should trust the OL.

Throw the ball 40 times a game and I don’t think anyone can stop this aerial assault. We have arguably the #1 QB in the country and #1 WR in the country + a better version of Jacolby George in Barkate, solid young WRs in Moore and Upshaw, and a steady flow of capable RBs. Just missing the home run piece.

Make teams respect the passing attack and it’ll open up lighter boxes for the OL to at least churn out 4-5 yard runs.
That home run piece will be on the team in a little bit and that’s Jordan Lyle. So that part of the game will be on our team soon.
