This is why Franklin will NEVER be a championship CFB coach

Should have gone for two when they went up 19-14 in the 4th quarter. That was the first dumb decision. Even if that attempt failed, they would have been in the same spot at the end of the game as far as needing a field goal.

Yep one of many colossal failures.

He was just channeling his inner Luigi Cristobal.

I've been a Franklin detractor ever since those clowns hired him. Can't wait for his slurpers to blame his OC for that chokejob.

I have never been a fan of that sorry Corch. The icing on the cake waa last season he freezes the kicker from a middle school football team and they were up like 70 points. So overrated and many just swept his other transgressions under the rug...google them....

LOL u getting downvoted for truth telling, they make these threads forgetting our coach has not won a title either

So you think running a reverse in a blow out that actually gained yardage and had no bearing on the outcome was worse then running the ball on 4th and 5 to decide a huge game? A huge game in which they also blew a 12 point 4th quarter learn at home. That's truth telling to you?

I know you hate Richt and everything Miami but come the **** on.

Don't get me wrong. I still think he is a corch. I just thought he would have been worse in his first year.

Mullen is a good coach. Why do people think he's bad? He was most successful coach at MissSt since the 1940s. Jackie Sherrill in the 90s is only other coach that had a decent amount of success there.

Franklin took the blame, it was a horrible play call in that situation.

That said, he's done very well at PSU, brought them back from the dead. He won at Vandy, he's a good coach. Solid recruiter as well.

To any extent they were actually left dead then it was Bill O'Brien that brought them back. And trust me, you don't really want anybody taking too close a look at how clean Franklin was at Vandy.

Sure, PSU is relevant now but Franklin absolutely still struggles against junk teams every year and chokes away games like last night. Watch what happens there when this inevitably starts happening consecutively and he stops doing enough every year to quash mounting critiques of his performance.

If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying. All the best coaches for the most part are bad people (not saying Franklin is one of the best).

PSU is going to win 10+ 3 years in a row for the 1st time since the early 80s, just had their best recruiting class in ages. They did choke that one away but * is a good team as well. Have to win/lose with the ball in your best players hands and they didn't do that.

This right here! I mean, look, we don't play them, so they're not our problem, but last year, they had overwhelming offensive power in Sequon, McSorley, that TE and others. How they didn't beat OSU last year, with those horses, was a head scratcher. He is who he is. If Meyer has another "heart attack" and leaves OSU, he may have one or two seasons to make hay in the B1G, but essentially he is a Frank Beamer in relation to success, except, unlike Frank, I don't see Franklin EVER getting the Nittanies to the NC.

It already did.

From 00' thru 05', Paterhoe was 26-26, the ***** had 4 losing seasons in that stretch, and He was still allowed to coach seven more years after that miserable stretch.

You're just talkin' outta your ***.

Because anyone who isn’t Saban or Meyer is a “corch.” Or anyone who isn’t deemed a “savage” by the fifteen year olds on the board.

Mullen is quite obviously a solid coach.

I'm talking out of my *** but you're comparing them keeping around their god in Joe "Knew About It" Paterno vs the amount of future patience they'll have with a guy that is 22-14 in conference and 2-2 in bowls and has a shtick that'll wear reallll thin.

C'mon man!

You’re starting to sell me on this.

Sorry, there's just no comparison to anything in the FIU game. That game was already over and there was nothing but bragging rights at stake.

Now HB pass in the snow was for the win in a bowl game so I'll go with that.

I seen worse.. like a WR reverse at the goal line vs FIU.

HB pass in the snow

Marshawn Lynch in your backfield at the 1 ...and you pass!!!???.

I agree that that was probably the DUMBEST CALL EVER and the stakes were NEVER higher a Super Bowl .

Made by Super Bowl Championship winning Coach or Corch Pat Carroll.

Dumb calls , just like
**** happens.webp
from time to time. Championship coach or otherwise.

EVERY Coach that has won a championship has one in his resume. They are NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. They are same as the "great calls" that work out....when they don't they're called dumb

Time will tell

The dumbest thing was his postgame comments that got too carried away and overboard. He was embarrassed and over compensated by equating a win over OSU as elite status, (Iowa blew them out and aren’t elite). His comments guaranteed a win over OSU next year (with a new QB, losing the QB that accounted for 400+ yards in a 1 point loss and at the Horse Shoe next season), and basically gave PSU permission to fire him if he fails to do so. He just sunk himself.
