Impressive? Nothing bad when there is nothing there!

His impressive BIO:
AboutAbout

From 2013 to 2017, I have been employed by the University of Miami football team. From 2013-2014, I worked in Football Operations as a Football Operations intern. As an intern in football operations, I assisted with all behind the scenes recruiting activity such as entering prospect information and film into our database, as well as preparing mail to send to our recruits and their families. Furthermore, I specialized in using Photoshop to create edits to send our prospects both digitally and through the mail. In the summer of 2014 I accepted the position of Special Teams student assistant in which I have been in the same role for the past three years. In this role I have assisted the special teams coordinator with breaking down film, creating game-plans, and all practice activities in both the fall and spring seasons. Following my graduation in May of 2017, I will be accepting a full time position on staff as the Special Teams/Tight Ends Graduate Assistant.

His interview:

So this is our secret weapon that will fix ST's...I'm really worried! I've expressed how the U has ALWAYS had impressive Special Teams and how each coach had some impressive surprise way to exploit opponents. I've also said that Special Teams will make or break this season. Not to demean the guy but his lack of ANY experience is quite concerning. Come on Mario, show some creativity, get a coach that knows his trade, not this!

@fraggle is right. When bill belichick is sitting out there on his couch, it goes without saying that we could be doing more with our ST's. Never settle for complacency! Great post, OP! Could not have been said better.

I know this is a fraggle post so I don’t know why I’m asking but…what was wrong with our special teams? We’ve had great punting and kicking for years now. Feagles and Baxa were a long time ago.

It’s understandable to have concerns about special teams, given our history of strong punting and kicking. Feagles and Baxa had their ups and downs, but we've seen solid performance in recent years. It could be a mix of various factors like changes in coaching, player injuries, or just an off day. Special teams can be unpredictable, and even the best units have occasional struggles. Let’s hope they bounce back quickly!

I was just gonna say lol, what needs fixing? I guess we gotta hope the punter gets better even tho i don’t think he was bad..he just wasn’t lou hedley. Besides that STs is just about limiting mistakes these days

Kicking is among the best in the country, if not the best.

Punting is well above average.

Kickoff return has been really good the last couple years.

Where I want to see improvement is punt return, and blocking kicks. This is Miami, we should have electric returners. And have we blocked a punt or kick in the past decade against a real team?

@fraggle
"We have a couple of Pro coaches on the Dolphins and Heat with "little experience" who are doing pretty good. You can figure out who they are.

I just checked some stats...
Andres doing his thing and kickoff returns (13th) were the only areas we did well on ST's.
Punt returns (95th), opponent punt returns (82nd), opponent kickoff returns (92nd), and blocked kicks against (T79th) were a disaster.
Waaay too much negative hidden yardage.

Yep. A big part of losing to Rutgers, was the blocked punt for a TD!

We have been below average at situational awareness when returning kicks and protecting in kicking situations under Mario. Multiple muffs that shouldn't have happened and blocked kicks or close calls that resulted in important field position changes. It is a real problem; I was hoping we would cut the ST guy loose and replace him with a different coach with a good resume in the off season.
