What in the world will it take for our complacent administration to take the over necessary action of firing Al Golden. At this point I think he could lose to an FCS school and keep his job as our head coach/special teams coach on a team with horrible special teams. I've been to plenty of games most recently the Duck Commander Bowl and have never to my recollection seen Golden coach up a player on the sideline. At the bowl game with about 7 min left USC got a delay of game and when they set the ball the clock winded. I was yelling at the bench to stop the clock and Al didn't notice anything, how does a head coach let 30 seconds leave the clock and not notice. And by the way if we had 30 more seconds we woulda got the ball back at the end of the game and Al coulda screwed the game on offense instead of on defense.

Institutional paralysis. No one wants to step up and lead us through this dumpster fire.
 
The university is trying to see if they can do it without having to buy him out.

I.e. they are cheap ***** who have no foresight whatsoever.

1. The same ADMIN brought in Golden,

2. The same ADMIN extended Golden, and

3. The same ADMIN are playing this genius approach.

I agree but what I think gets overlooked is that good head coaches can develop assistants into **** good coaches the same way they develop players. Al can't develop anything except a virus.

It's actually a genius move by that fat dope. He knows he's finished here, so he stands nothing to gain and much to lose by being a scapegoater.

By staying loyal to his corches he knows he'll always have them as allies when he's looking for work. He can also float the idea that he got fired for refusing to scapegoat instead of for being an abject failure.

Honestly, wouldn't he be smarter by going back to the school and negotiating? It is going to be a long 2015 for this man.

His strategy of refusing to change may cost him a lot more by staying. He may be done as a coach for a long time.

I know people are going to claim to know numbers about the buyout. I tend not to trust them.

I will say this, the strategy of paying later to save money will cost the school more.

- Less donations,
- Less ticket sales,
- Less merchandise sales,
- Less alternative revenue from games (i.e. parking and concessions), and
- Another down year for the program. We're essentially throwing in the towel before we snapped the ball if we say AL IS OUR MAN IN 2015.

Change everything now and bring in the right guy, perhaps you keep recoup the buyout money RIGHT away. I will say this, we make a lot more money now (athletics) then when we signed the extension. A lot more money.

That's why coaching at the college and pro level is the best racket going. Only line of work I can think of where you can fail miserably and your employer pays you big money to leave.

Another thing that will be cheaper if they acted now is that butch davis has no buyout that they would be required to pay to hire him.

Another area that we could save money if we acted now is on Butch Davis's buy out. There isn't one, we wouldn't be required to pay anything to hire him

It makes no sense to keep him around. At this point what has he shown that makes them think he could get it fixed.

Just suck it up and spend the money.
