Man, I have been thinking about that. I understand that the CFP has meaning (and generates a lot of money) but the fact is that a natty is only in reach to a small number of schools under the current system. More importantly, competing for, and possibly winning, a conference championship still has value. I find it annoying when the only discussion is limited to potential CFP implications.

Yeah man; winning a bowl game used to mean something, but now the center of attention is strictly the CFP. So while Fournette & McCaffrey started the trend, The Bowl Committees low keep shots themselves in the foot w/ this

My only concern is protecting the integrity of the Playoff in relation to opting out of bowl-type games. We might not like it but it's simply where we're at.

One interesting thing might be if NIL contract language started requiring participation in these games to get the full sum or was incentive laden if you play in them.

I agree totally but you can say Jaylon Smith & Byron Love could be examples as well why top prospects opt out (I know Jay was in the playoffs when he was injured ) but you get where I'm going with this.

So u’re the prime example of how the CFP have created this thought.

It’s always been a lot of bowl games w/ the 6+ win criteria; but b/c the bowl committee put so much emphasis on the 4 games, everything else has been magnified (e.g too many bowl games, insignificance of winning a bowl outside of the CFP).

This could’ve been mitigated w/ proper planning, but b/c The BCS Bowl era created so much controversy, the hyper reaction was to fix it w/ a 4 team playoff, not realizing it would diminish the other bowl games. ****, even the other NY6 bowls that’s not in rotation for the CFP have lost value.

Brethren, throw Willis in there too. Injuries can happen at any given time. ****, injuries can happen in the Sr Bowl. And yes, Jaylon did get injured in The CFP, but there’s far less of those stories than not.

Don’t forget the TE Jake Butts from Michigan. He was never the same after blowing out his knee to FSU in bowl game. Medically retired at 25. These injured players do collect a handsome sum on insurance policies though so not a total risk.

Expand the playoff.

One of the big reasons is this.

I've always been against any kind of playoff system in college football. That said, if we're going ruin the beauty of the sport's subjective MNC process then its best to expand the playoff and make it a true playoff system.

Old news, doesn’t phase me one bit. And just think how much vitriol Bryan Fortay took 30? years ago or so…edit to add context, Transfer. About the Bowls, meaningless. Players would rather train for the draft then collect a swag bag

I think the one transfer in the portal is fair if coaches leave etc. But I don't like it if the kids just leave because they can't crack the lineup where they're at. Let them transfer down a level if they want to play immediately.
