I'm hurt
I'm sick
I'm tired
BUT
I don't believe everything is bad.
Going back to the teams of the Shannon era all the way to the Richt, our teams go down 17-3, they fold and it turns into 30-3 real quick.
This team found a way to come back and take the lead late. That is a positive, and a glimpse of what we have.
I believe that we have the pieces, and I can see clear improvement in areas that have sucked for a while now.
I can't excuse the bad play by Baxa, the inconsistency of our defense, and our ability to finish. I can't excuse the blown coverages, the missed tackles, and the drops by guys who should be making catches. I can't excuse the defense looking like they are still in the sandpits on Greentree. I can't excuse our game planning and ability to be prepared for our games.
I can't place this loss on a single person because where we lost was in so many areas. We need to get our speed on defense. I seem to remember when our LBs could beat RBs to the edge. UNC's biggest plays were when our guys bit and fell down. Baker has to adjust to this. Neither Bandy nor Ivey (Not taking away from their talent but) are world class sprinters, he has to give them help over top. Instead of rolling out a LB or Romeo Finley to cover, why not bring in Blades, Williams, or Smith?
I have a lot of feelings running through me right now. I am frustrated, but excited. Jarren, Brevin, KJ, the OL, the RBs all played to Miami standard; besides a few plays we left out there, our offense has improved vastly.
For I don't know how long, I can't remember a time where we played lights out in all phases of the game. Where we have out coached a team.
I want Manny to be the guy, but he's got to have the team prepared. Especially on two weeks of planning.
It's Still All About The U....
