This has to be the most illegitimate conference championship of all time

Mega conferences
A&M almost made it to sec cc beating 7 of the 8 worst sec teams
This. The unbalanced schedules in today’s giant conferences are a joke. Especially with CFP spots being so closely tied to conference championships. Is a team that goes 8-0 in conference but played the 8 worst teams really better than a team that went 7-1 against the top teams?

Duke isn't going to get a bid if they win.

It will go to a 2nd G5 team. The CFP will have the same amount of G5 teams in that Duke lost to this season.
In that case could they put us in as an at large? I’ve heard ESPN talk about not letting the ACC champ in depending who it is. Curious if that would not benefit us having Duke win and us sitting at 12-13.

I would like to see the committee's actual bylaws. We always hear about the "five highest ranked" conference champions. But what if there aren't five champions good enough to be ranked?

Should just be top 2 teams in each conference in CFP get in CG, or do a mini tourney top 4 CFP in each conference in lieu of further playoff expansion

(Or better yet just get rid of the CGs)

Josh Pate just did a wonderful Sarah McLaughlin special , the entire ACC. He said Virginia gets to play for the championship having lost to NC State but not being credited for the loss and also not having to face the #2, #3, #4 and #5 ACC teams.

I'm not even mad about UVA, they went 7-1 in conference, they EARNED their way in. Once the conference expanded, it became about luck of the draw in regards to who you played in conference, especially once divisions were eliminated. No one could actually predict year to year who is good and who isn't.

The issue is Duke. I'm still in disbelief that the tiebreaker procedure is this incredibly convoluted and stupid, while also avoiding the one thing that should be considered in case of a tie, where everyone didn't play each other: CFP RANKINGS. The WHOLE POINT of the conference championship game is to not only crown a champion, but provide a stage to showcase the conference. You want your BEST TEAMS in that game. In case of a tie, the CFP rankings should be used, because it ensures that stupid crap like this never happens. You have five teams tied at 6-2, and the WORST team, who didn't beat any of the teams they are tied with gets in because terrible Syracuse decided to mail it in against a terrible BC team.
