This defensive line will be historic

Not worried about that in 27 though since we have Bryant and possibly DJ. Two edge setters that can rush the passer with ease

You highlighted one of the team's weaknesses. There aren't many but the top3 are (in no partciular order):

1. our DE's abilities to set the edge in run defense.
2. inexperience at OL
3. TE room
 
Teams will probably be able to run more successfully against the D… but I imagine running the ball won’t be in their interest when the offense is lighting them up.

But I still gotta give the nod to last year… Especially with some possible flakiness from Lowe. I like Wilson, but don't think he's top 2 rounds at the moment. I consider him a drop off, but still a chance to be an above average pass rusher.

D-line still as strength and top 10 8-10 caliber unit. Just can't say better than last year.

Of course not season hasn't started! But,your comment about lowe flakiness? Injury is flakiness? Don't nobody know what his issue was! Wilson's stats are on par with bain! Wilson had 50 pressures im sure it's in bains neighborhood!

That's a **** of a lot of exclamation points… Not worried about stats and Wilson ran up his numbers la ittle against whoever that MAC or FCS team they played last year. Definitely happy to have him though, so agree.

It's not going to be inside runs. So you're essentially saying our DEs and DBs won't defend the edge as well as Bain, Mesi, Scott and Thomas. I get it. That was a historic squad.

But I'm not sure the results will be noticeably different. I think Blount is the real deal. And the reason Wilson came back and didn't go pro was to get better at run protection under JT. He's a grown *** man, he's going to perform like one.

What do you think about LB?.

You think Pruitt overtakes Chase smith?

Gavin Mueller might be too good to keep off the field. Kid is an amazing athlete and played a variety of positions in HS. Kid is smart. Could end up being one of the best TE's to come through the door.

If you think teams are going to “successfully” run on Miami, then you really don't understand Corey Hetherman's defensive scheme.

Every stop where Hetherman has been the defensive coordinator, he's built one of the nation's best run defenses. This isn't a one year trend, it's his identity.

The track record speaks for itself. Hetherman's defense is built to shut down the run. It's a system that consistently puts players in position to succeed, not one that depends on individual stars playing superhero every Saturday.

Based on what he's accomplished everywhere he's coached, I'd be surprised if Miami finishes outside the top 10 in run defense this season.

Hes basically our 2nd shot at Jimmy Graham but we have him for 3-4 years instead of 1...If we cant find a way to get him involved in the offense..then I dont have much hope for the TE position as it pertains to this scheme and we can forget about getting Jaxon Dollar or any other 5* TE moving forward. I was concerned when Brock Schott left so quickly so Mueller should be another test.

Newton, yeah, although I'm not sure he's stout enough to be that DT but I'm curious to see how he looks year 3. Stancil is a guy I have my hopes for as being that 5th DT.

I think Chase is solid. He logged in a bunch of minutes last year and should be a good 2-3 down LB. Pruitt should see PT as that 3rd LB that comes in on 3rd downs or if Chase needs a spell.
