Boring update

A year ago my posts were alarmist about how thin we were at DT. Blay was just okay, Scott wasn't ready. Jones wasn't taking to our coaching and developing, Blount looked like at TE not a 3-tech. The only guy I trusted was Moten. We somehow made it work, even in the CFP with a one-legged Moten. But it was stressful. Hold your breadth, close your eyes, cross your fingers, say your mantras, pray to god type anxieties.

This year, all along the DL and across the back 5, I see nothing but top level talent and depth. I think we have the 4 best starting DTs in the ACC in Moten, Scott, Davis and Carter. We have the best 4 starting DEs in Wilson, Blount, Lightfoot and Scroggins. We have the best 5 starting CBs in OJ, Lucas, Brown, O'Connor and Slimeto. We have the best 4 starting Safeties in Poyser, Fitzgerald, Dunnigan and Day. And then there's headhunter Thorton.

I honestly feel sorry for some of our opponents.
 
Moten and Scott will no doubt be levels above where they were last year. Lightfoot and Blount are going to breakout. And then begin the rotation of young hungry DL.

Didnt feel like that at all, especially after game 1 last season at DT.. lol..

Crazy to hear OSU was expecting Jarquez Carter to start for them this season and he transferred here to be DT 3/4.. Good times indeed..

The former 5* recruit, number 8 player in the transfer portal that was paid a **** ton of money to come here and spent the past 3-4 years in some of the best S&C programs in the country. We shouldn't sleep on that guy?

I know many of you didn’t have the same concerns I did. Many others did. My point is I have zero concerns this seasons we are stacked.

So a possible dline front of players that can earn minutes are.

Moten,Wilson,Scott,Lightfoot,Blount,Davis,Carter
Pickett jr, Wiley jr, Scroggins,Newton, Charles,
Stancil,Nagle,Lafayette, Bacon,Campbell,Santieus,Chukwaruh.

I know pruitt is not dline but man him attacking the qb adds another element

Yea, much was made about the loss of Bain/Mesidor and people speculating about a drop-off on the D-Line, but with the returning talent and portal additions I was never really concerned about them. I actually have more concerns about the O-Line going into the season than the D-Line. Also, one other concern of mine is depth at LB. I think Toure is AWESOME…a top 5 LB in the country, but after him we’re not nearly as deep or talented as we are in the secondary, DL, or DE.

Chase Smith is gonna be surprising you a lot this season my friend. He’s playing linebacker at a high-level right now in practice.
