Yes there were a few misses but from top to bottom this is the best class Miami has had since the early 2000's. This class is loaded with savages and the best part is most of them will get a chance to redshirt and eased into the program, a luxury that we haven't had in several years.

Agreed, but most on here are blinded (and to a point, understandably so) by our failure to perform on the field and our perceived whiff at DT.

you must be talking about the fsu class that took lane cook and rudolph out of our backyard...

I don't think its a coincidence that the best class Golden has pulled was the only class where the NCAA **** was behind us. And they were STILL hanging over our head for 3/4 of that recruiting cycle. I am optimistic about the future.

Why does everyone think that every single kid that plays in South Florida wants to go to Miami? Some kids want immediate playing time, some kids want to play for the team that just won a National title, some kids just follow the biggest payday.

The whole idea of "putting a fence around the State of Miami" is so ridiculous in 2014.

There are also tons of FSU fans in south Florida, there always have been and there always will be.

Yes, I'm clearly an idiot for not believing that because a kid plays high school football in South Florida he's automatically a Miami lock and it's only the fault of the coaching staff that he doesn't enroll at the University.

DEM DA RULZ RIGHT?

The people who think any coach (including the almighty Nick Saban) can put a fence around South Florida, can't be from South Florida.

Every major football university protects it's backyard or at least makes every effort to do so, right? In the most fertile 100-mile stretch in the college recruiting world, how is it ridiculous that we apply maximum effort to do the same?

This thread went south quickly. Good post by the OP. There are very few commits most of us wouldn't want to take outside of the late offer to Brown. And lots of elite kids that everyone wanted: Thomas, Yearby, Kaaya, McDermott, Moten, Darling, Owens, Hester, etc. etc. And we got very good DL prospects in there for the first time. So the recruiting classes are just getting better and better. Need to deliver on the field, and then we pull in the elite kids who aren't loyal to any program, but opportunistically go to the top program of the moment.

There's a difference between putting max effort into recruiting and having the asinine assumption that no kid from South Florida should dare go to another school other than Miami.

People don't seem to understand that.

Some people around here seem to forget the Florida part of South Florida, and the fact that FSU and UF happen to be State Schools. Chances are these young players are going to know many more students that have gone or currently attending to these state schools, and by large numbers. Besides Athletics I doubt that many students know anyone that goes to UM.
