Does the third string Qb either Williams or Martell transfer.. Before the season starts ??? Thanks once of course the season starter is announced.

This requires two assumptions regarding Williams but, if he is third string and realistically wants to start, he has to go.

The prior staff put Perry ahead of Williams, but he was going to get a clean start with the new staff. Then that new staff went out and got Martell. If one of those guys gets the job (Perry or Martell), they probably hold it for the next two plus years, and the other guy is #2 unless he transfers. Even if guy #2 transfers, Williams is still likely a back up for 3 years of his eligibility, at least.

The interesting wrinkle is if Martell is 3rd string. Would he transfer again, right away? He could also redshirt and see what happens, but I doubt he is wired that way.

There is an article on another site about this very topic. The author uses a lot of quotes from Manny Navarro, from The Athletic, who recently went through a Q&A session with fans. Manny fully believes that N'Kosi Perry will be the starter against UF (about 30 people, from this board, heads just exploded) and according to the "people close to each QB" William's is the most likely to transfer in the fall if he is the third string QB. Navarro also mentioned that Tate would likely transfer at the end of the season, if he is not the starter because he would be immediately eligible to play, considering he will have graduated by the end of the season.

How much of our fan base is going to be disappointed come August? 70%? 80%? I've been trying to prepare y'all since January.

Jarren will transfer to GT. I haven't heard anything about Kosi graduating early so he probably spends his last year of eligibility at a place like UCF.

i wouldn't blame either tbh, but that isnt our problem. we just have to play the best QB out there and you keep recruiting new QBs.

didn't he redshirt already? also, seems that perry has been the only consistent one though spring.

What if the staff don't even say who's third? They'll name a starter and for 2nd string they could go This guy OR That guy and split 2nd team reps.

There's going to be a defined depth chart. Even if you think you can hide it from them for some crazy reason, they're going to notice that two of the three are getting the majority of the reps with the ones and twos. That's just how game preparation works.

So you want our staff to give 0 ***** about their players? The staff should never encourage any player to transfer, and if a 3rd string QB attempts to, they should try to retain him if possible. But realistically, the only way a QB could make sense out of staying and having a chance to compete before his eligibility is up ..Perry would have to win the job this year and have a Heisman type year, then immediately enter the draft, opening it back up for a competition in 2020. Anything outside of that, and a 3rd string QB is just injury insurance.

You left out one of the QB's in your "transfer hypotheticals."
