Things are bad but I’ll say this

Isn't this technically a counter argument? All of these coaches were coordinators or HCs at much smaller schools before moving to a p5 program. None of them walked into a somewhat talented roster, except maybe Aranda.
Mario came from OREGON! The same currently 15th rank Oregon.
I wasn't expecting a NY6 bowl or anything this year, but I wasn't expecting 3 struggles and and a Fill O Failure sandwich to MTSU. Who knows, maybe this gets turned around, but if we ever go down 14 again, turn the TV off. We can't score 14 plus the winning point.
I think it’s a combination of bad players/lack of players and coaches trying to figure out how best to use them. I believe it’s going worse than any of them could have imagined.

We can point to culture, the roster, the previous staff, a new scheme, whatever you'd like. This was the worst loss I can recall in a long, long time.

I don't care about excuses, I care about results. You simply can't claim to be building a championship level team and sht the bed against MTSU. Especially not giving up 300+ yards on 4 plays.

1st year coaching records at current school

Sam Pittman 3-7
Lane Kiffin 5-5
Dave Aranda 2-7
Josh Heupel 7-6
Dabo 4-3

I could post a lot more. We are no better right now than any of these programs were and honestly we are probably no worse than when the coaches took over.

The loss yesterday was unacceptable, but this is why we have a new coach and staff. The roster is bad and this year is going to be rough.

I’ll be at UNC because I personally believe that Mario can get this fixed. I’m also extremely disappointed in what I saw yesterday and I expected us to win the Coastal this year.

Both things can be true.
So tired of this comparison. I can name 500 coaches who started with terrible records and ended with terrible records. You really want to compare lists?

I'm a Mario supporter mostly because I know with the people in charge he is getting 5 years at the minimum but you're kinda just cherry-picking good coaches

Moper retort:

Manny Diaz: 6-7

Scott Frost: 6-7 (UCF) 4-8 (Neb)

Clay Helton 5-4

Tom Herman 7-6 (UT)

Willie Taggart 5-7 (FSU)

Will Muschamp 7-6

Steve Sarkisian 5-7 (UT)

Randy Shannon 5-7
Just wait til Sark is at the SEC, he’ll top out at 5-7

This. We absolutely MUST NOT let that old ******* **** on us at Our House. I don’t care what Cristobal has to do over the next two weeks: UNC is the Season.
Funny nc is playing marginal football but with our mess who knows what the **** is going to happen

Don’t expect the mopes on here to realize this. For most of this board everything sucks, and even though there are countless examples of team’s being in our place and turning things around, that doesn’t matter. Kinda dumb, imho, to look at a new staff 4 games into inheriting a team that went 28-21 over the last four years and proclaim that they’re doomed. This was always going to be a long term rebuild, but you’re not going to find any rationality on this board right now. Don’t blame anyone, but just don’t understand how short-term people are looking right now. Gotta see how this season plays out.

Middle Tenn St owned us in all phases. TVD had regressed at levels never seen before.

I’m willing to give the Def the benefit of the doubt, especially with Ivey being Ivey, but at the same time why we didn’t run more zone vs their offensive scheme is a head scratcher

This rebuild narrative is voided based on the level of competition and the way we lost

Pittman - first time HC with an abysmal roster in the SEC West
Kiffin - worse roster than ours in the SEC West
Aranda - first time HC with a worse roster than ours in the Big 12
Heupel - worse roster than ours in the SEC East
Dabo - first time HC with a roster worse than ours

Every single one of them took over teams with tougher schedules and worse rosters. Half of them first time HC’s. Not a fair comparison at all.
We have a terrible roster and an embraced culture of mediocrity. The comparisons are not that far off. The whole point is that literally every successful coach in CFB right now had a rough first year. Only Urban has consistently pulled off one-year turnarounds.

A lot of us know that we are only 4 games in the season and We shouldn’t judge his tenure here just yet. But with that being said, most of us are pointing out problems that are most likely not gonna change unless Mario changes his offensive philosophy. The chances of that are extremely low, majority coaches will die on their own hill. The biggest issue I’m having is the culture though UM shouldn’t have cliques and lack of accountability between teammates. That’s unacceptable.

Bench 8, 11, and 0 ( until comprehension of wrapping up) and 85, 70, and 51 on off and gimme 13 taking snaps and lets see what happens

It’s not the same. Miami plays in the worst division in college football. A rebuild at this school, is still better than 70% of its schedule. A functional offense has this team sitting at 4-0. That’s on Mario.

A lot of problems right now but doesn’t mean we can’t play better moving forward. I guess Steele needs to understand we can’t man to man **** and he better run cover 2 all game. Be like the Fins and force a team to be perfect all the way down the field if they’re going to score

A long time 🤔 Around here that’s last year… 😔

I remember being disgusted by quite a few losses, but none as bad as this. The first offensive play an interception? Followed by turnovers the next two drives? Then not being able to move the ball at all? Giving up hundreds of yards on 4 or five plays? This was worse than FIU or UNC.

So many to choose from. Virginia still hurts. I agree this one was NASTY. It not only didn’t have to be, but we had ample time to fix it. Why wasn’t there enough buy in to get the guys motivated after that start?
