They got killers, I don't know any other way to say it

After the 2024 defensive experience....it's hard to believe people are saying this about the 2025 squad. Gotta give Mario his props for getting that ship pointed in the right direction.
It's not a surprise though, is it?

Many of us have said that if Cristobal couldn't bring us back to prominence, nobody could. He was literally going to die trying.

Talent wise, agree 100%, that's his calling card. Him cleaning house on the defensive side and getting Heatherman, and getting instant results...didn't expect that at all. I was expecting a serviceable "bend, don't break" defense. These guys are regulars at The Continental.

I would have lost a ton of money had someone bet me anyone would say that about our defense this soon.
We could look back on the Heatherman hire as the moment it finally came together.
I said it. I thought this was about an 8 win season because I didn’t see the pieces in the middle in the front 7 but previous Cane guys stepped up, Inbound Canes transfers stepped up - Hetherman was a killer hire - and here we are.

Before the season, and during the hiring of Heatherman, Mario called it to some extent. If you recall he mentioned, we were doing things defensively that he hadn't recruited for. What we are seeing now is what he thought catered to the bully ball he thought he had recruited, atleast along the line. And then other wordly props for the complete overhaul of that secondary lol

Have my eye on the secondary for now. They really haven't been challenged much. But solid for the time being thanks to the front 4.

Where are you now on the win total?

I think anyone who watched the UF game winced a few times at the hits UM defenders (and Oline) were putting on them. It was brutal. UM just has bigger, faster and more violent players. In the 2nd half it seemed like UF players were falling like flies. And even when they stayed in the game you could see UF players in pain.
28 kept holding his mid section.
The WR went straight to the locker room after Wes put a helmet into his rib cage
The Oline were pushing so hard that they were rolling up UF defenders.

It was pretty mean…and beautiful.
