There's no sugarcoating this

Mario should man up, do the right thing and announce that he won’t be back next year as he’s lost the support of the fan base/season ticket holders after 4 years. $8M per year and big money from the collective to buy players isn’t producing the desired results.

South Carolina, Nebraska, Clemson, FSU, Missouri, Arkansas do not spend what we have. The only two ACC schools you have on this list are dead wrong and notoriously do not spend on their rosters. In the Mario Era, a handful of these teams have been in the CFP. Enjoy the rest of the season. Hopefully Mario can get revenge against Mighty Syracuse next weekend. Maybe he can read your thread on adjustments to make.
Every one of those schools has a bigger football budget than Miami and they are all paying the $20.5M to athletes.

We do have an edge on some with the "extra" NIL but we're talking about $30M budget (including the $20.5) compared to $25M for the lower spend teams on my list. They are effectively the same.

This is showing revenue, not budget. Also more than half of the schools you listed have been more successful the last 4 years than Miami. The OP was that anyone could have improved off a 5-7 year where we lost to middle Tennessee state with that money. I am unsure how you can pick coaches from these schools that couldn’t improve off that season in the ACC.

the problem is, is if mario is removed, there won't be the same money being spent on the program so then the new coach won't have the tools to succeed.

so our options are, keep running mario out there, have money come in, hope to god that he hires people that prevail despite his mismanagement.

or

force mario out/fire him lose basically all money to the program NIL and facilities, upgrade to a coach that maybe knows a thing or two, but due to no money for NIL has less talent so we still lose the same amount of games.

I've been strongly supportive of Mario's vision for this program since he arrived.

The loss yesterday burns all of the 2025 off-season goodwill. It resets the team's on-field progress to the end of 2023. The whole health of the program is markedly improved since 2021, but the game is played for wins- and on that front there is a miserable mismanagement of resources.

Whatever mitigating circumstances existed at Oregon for Cristobal and Georgia for Beck, it appears that their critics have been vindicated.

It will be enormously difficult for the Hurricanes to escape the unwitting self-sabotage coming out of the head coach.
Yeah I feel you.
While the entire college football world is looking for ways to create advantages and make it as easy as possible....we are actually looking for ways to create disadvantages and make as difficult as possible.
It's impossible to defend that anymore.

The perfect storm of circumstances the guy apparently needs just to get to the ACCCG is astonishing

I said last year if Mario couldn’t win with that team, then he can’t win here and here we are, another season knowing full well we won’t win with him as the coach, but also knowing he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

Not a good place to be
He don't do that tho.

He's too stupid for that.
Stupid people have been cheating off of smart people for centuries. It’s not hard. Go get a smart person to run the offense. If Dawson is the smart person and you haven’t let him be that, step aside and allow him to do what he wants to do.

You keep bringing in talent. You’re good at that. He’ll make a lot more money for himself, his family, and the program when he does. If not, he’s going to Napier himself and become the richest OLine coach in the country.

He don't do that tho.
2022 = patience
2023 = more patience buildings and stuff
2024 = if only we had a DC and defense
2025 =

Like what? What’s left?

Part that annoys me most is people claiming this “program building” thing

When Mario got here he literally made things 10x worse. 2022 was an epic fail from recruiting and coaching hires

2021 we finished strong under Manny people love to gloss over that. The **** is this “rebuilding” thing? Like bro YOU broke it first

Culture? We get 100 yards in penalties. We’ve got players suspended same as always.

So what’s left? Refs? We really need 5 stars at every spot to beat SMU and Louisville?

This feels like Golden and Dorito blaming players for freelancing. We actually had lots of talent on defense so I was always like “what’s the end game?” What exactly do you need to do something that’s doable by a castoff Miami coach with a bunch of castoff Miami players?

Yeah all the, well Mario may not win us a NC ever but we will win the ACC and make the playoff every 4 years, and that's ok but not great stuff you know is predicated on actually doing that once. Last year he coulda done that cause of Cam, this year he shoulda done it cause the team was good enough actually.

I like Mario. He seems like a good guy who clearly loves this University and football program. I want him to succeed. I definitely stuck my head in the sand a bunch because I want to be happy watching this team again. But good God was that **** ridiculous yesterday. Don't know how it magically gets better. Don't think Mario becoming figurehead HC like senile Bowden and Paterno an actual solution. He's not senile, and that's just admitting he has no business being the HC.

I dunno. It is ******* bleak

You said you stuck your head in the sand

I don’t think that’s true personally

We hired him and gave him the keys (which is good we needed that approach)

Let a coach see his plan through for once at Miami

We had no choice really but to just sit there in 2022 and hope it got better

Year 4 and his plan has gotten us right back to where we’ve been for two decades and I’m not seeing the possible fixes that get us beyond that

College football is a total professional **** show. It’s even worse than you know especially when gambling easily jumped in bed with sports. Point shaving and throwing games has been around since the inception of the game, no matter the sport.

You have to assume the walls are closing in around him though, no? If he's not feeling the pressure, nor able to see that the "rebuild" shouldn't take 10 years when IU is ranked top 5 and played in the playoffs in year 1 of a new head coach, then the dude is ****an Ray Charles reincarnated. At what point does the admin or just the coach himself have a come to JC moment and retool a path forward?

There really are no excuses for him, it's not facilities or money, or tough conference...

After the UF game he was adamant about makng sure everyone knew the trajectory of this program vs the other florida schools....so what's this own take of trajectory after another ****** ACC loss?

This is about all I can contribute to the board right now, by way of GPT4o-mini:

Please write the lyrics to a song parody of "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables. Instead of Fantine singing, make the point of view be that of a fan of the Miami Hurricanes football team who is lamenting having their dreams crushed yet again in November by the head coach, Mario Cristobal.

### I Dreamed a Dream (Miami Hurricanes Parody)

*(To the tune of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables)*

I dreamed a dream in orange and green,
When we had hope, our glory seen.
The stands were loud, with pride we cheered,
But now it’s clear, the end is near.

I dreamed of titles and victories bright,
A team with passion, ready to fight.
But now I see, our dreams deflate,
With every loss, we bear the weight.

**Chorus**
I dreamed my dreams of glory days,
Of orange helmets in bright displays.
But Mario’s choices haunt my nights,
Oh, when will we reclaim our heights?

The hopes we had, so sweet, so bold,
Have turned to ashes, a tale retold.
The games we lost, decisions wrong,
Each November feels so long.

I watched the clock tick down, my heart in pain,
Each play a struggle, another shame.
The field was ours, but slips away,
Oh, Mario, what price must we pay?

**Chorus**
I dreamed my dreams of glory days,
Of orange helmets in bright displays.
But Mario’s choices haunt my nights,
Oh, when will we reclaim our heights?

We’ll stand united, through thick and thin,
With every season, we’ll fight to win.
But as I weep for dreams gone past,
I hope the Canes will rise at last.

Mario MUST delegate, or it’s more of the same
Not sure what I’m more scared of - his ability to go ahead and delegate

Or that he is and everyone is wrong that he isn’t and it was just an inconvenient narrative but he sucks at choosing who
To delegate to

Wait you think that the walls of president joe, Rudy and Maas brothers are even close to closing in?

I have some Everglades land to
Discuss with you

Well, while I knew he was a guy who wanted nothing more than to be what his mentors were, great head coaches, what I always thought was sadly true...he would need what Orgeron had at LSU....stellar recruiting and the best assistants money can buy and GTFO of the way.

Now we a know we are stuck with an expensive lame duck at maybe the worst time ever to be in search for a new head coach....so UM will hold on to him like grim death with the "we believe" campaign coming soon.
