I’d love it if this was the whole truth, but it isn’t.

The committee is not a group of knowledgeable individuals with modern modes of thinking. It’s a group of power brokers who have little to no common sense.

When they are looking to validate themselves, within their narrow cabal of decision makers, they will look to historic, commonly understood data. And that data says, “you’re right to have ND above Miami.”
 
We need a catchy # phrase to start reminding the world of the preferential treatment nd is getting here. Something like

#DEINotreDame or
#NDCharitybid

We need something fast/catchy to turn the pr engine on.
 
My prediction is that North Texas will beat Tulane by 3 or more touchdowns. They didn’t play N Texas/USF/Navy in the regular season; barely beat South Alabama and had close games against ECU/Memphis/Army.

They got blown out by UTSA who was the best in conference offense they faced. They didn’t score 40 points once all season; North Texas did it 8 times and the other 4 games they scored 31/33/33/36.

Ok State and Auburn should feel good about their hires; UF and Arkansas just hired dudes who are suspect.
 
there is about a 95% chance the rankings literally don’t change and we remain at 12.

There is a 5% chance we jump to 10.

Either way the ONLY HOPE currently is

Both BYU and Bama getting blown out of the conference championship games. Like we want both teams to lose by 2 scores. That is our path. If by some miracle the committee ranks us ahead of ND, all we need is TTU to beat BYU.

The fact that this is a legitimate question tells you how badly structured cfb is right now.

The sec/big/nd have muscled their way into 80% of the spots and given scraps to the ACC/big12/g5 teams.

This unbalance has created the opportunity for weird scenarios like the one you meant above.
