MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

They want ND in because their alums spend big. They need that to sellout the suites and high end packages.
Based on my experience at ND last year, the CFP takes a boat load of the premium tickets for themselves. The suites are full of bureaucrats, media types, and celebrities. ND took a huge allotment away from Development for the IU game. There were many donors who couldn’t get premium tickets.

Don't always agree with Pate but on his show today he summed up the ridiculous hubris of the "eye test" beautifully.... if these idiots are so confident in their eye test, why aren't they making millions betting games?

They better move Bama up fast then because if they are 10th and we are 10-2 not in. They will have no choice
3 loses and 1 ro FSU
No way they get in over 10-2 Miami

I think bama beats A&M btw
They moved them ahead of us last year after they beat Mercer. I don’t disagree on paper but we should be ahead of them and ND now and here we are. I have no faith in the system.

If Miami just misses the playoffs, is there some kinda consolation prize for first runner up?

What I think it Will be:
Tier 1/ Playoff Locks:
1. Ohio St
2. Indiana
3. Texas A&M
4. UGA
5. TTU
6. Oregon

Tier 1B/ Shouldn't be nearly this high, but is a lock if they win
7. Ole Miss

Tier 2/Committee has a lot of Wiggle Room. For instance putting ND high enough to eliminate Miami from a H2H tie-breaker
8. Notre Dame
9. Oklahoma
10. Alabama
11. BYU
12. Miami
13. Utah
14. Vanderbilt

Tier 3/With a Big win could leapfrog in
15. Texas
16. Michigan
17. Tennessee

Tier 4/Out *unless conf champ* But Used as Artificial Resume Boosters for teams ahead
18. UVA
19. USC
20. ASU
21. Washington
22. Arizona
23. Pitt
24. SMU

Tier 5/ Place Holders and Resume boosters.
25. Tulane
26. North Texas / Missouri / Iowa / LSU / JMU
Looks like I had 1-7 Correct.
I had OU jumping ND just cause I thought they'd try to further distance ND and US.
But other than that I had 10-14 correct.

I am kinda surprised they have Michigan above Texas, but I was off by 1. They valued less losses there. I also had USC collowing further to 19 instead of 17. I'm actually pretty surprised they didn't have USC below UTenn or UTenn jumping UVA.

But ASU to 20 made sense. I'm VERY surprised that Washington didn't jump up into the top 25, I though For sure they'd be there because it would strengthen Michigans win against them and give Oregon yet another ranked win if they get it done (or not an unranked loss!. No shock that Arizona entered the top 25 though. Nor is it a surprise that Tulane remains the only T25 G5 team. Its been obvious since like mid season that the American Conf champ was getting the CFP spot.

Perhaps most importantly Im glad that Pitt and SMU got ranked so high, and I'm kinda surprised that GTech remain ranked. But only 2 losses, so not shocked.

Notre Dame will get a at large bid every year. Shouldn't they be required to join a conference so they dont take one of those at large bids every year? But I guess that is what NCAA wants is Notre Dame in playoffs every year
Or just make them the G5 champ every year lol

In case others don't want to sift through 135 pages (if it's even posted). Our ACCCG path(s) are:

Miami clinches a spot in the championship game with:
  • Win + UVA loss + DUKE loss + SMU win OR

  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + NCSU win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + UNC win + SYR win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA loss + UNC win + BC win + Finish higher than GT & SMU in SportSource Analytics ranking OR

  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA win + NCSU win + SYR win OR
  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE loss + UVA win + NCSU win + BC win + Finish higher than GT & SMU in SportSource Analytics ranking OR

  • Win + SMU loss + DUKE win + UVA loss + NCSU win OR
  • Win + SMU win + DUKE win + UVA loss + NCSU win + Finish higher than DUKE in SportSource Analytics ranking
The ACC ******* sucks. What idiot decided in the event of a tie the highest ranked team doesn't get in?
