MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

It would be 2 opponents we beat by a combined 63 points. They beat Pitt by 22. If we win out it shouldn’t matter. We have ND in almost every metric that matters. It would be a ridiculous situation if both teams are on the bubble and they put ND in and not Miami.
At the moment, we don't have an advantage in a single metric. They have the same # of ranked wins, 2 fewer unranked losses, higher SOR, higher predictive metrics.

What playing? You keep on ignoring anything that doesn’t align with your priors. Go read the CFP committee criteria.
You gave me a list that had the #1 criteria as H2H, even though they've repeatedly said it's only a tiebreaker, and then couldn't provide a source for that list.

Yes, sure, you're the rationale objective person here. Lol

More threads begging, when we did it to ourselves.
I agree that we have ourselves to blame, but the part that frustrates me is all these other teams are allowed to have bad losses but we’re expected to be basically perfect throughout the season. Going into this past weekend Texas had a loss to Florida but people still had them going to the playoff. Bama lost to the Noles but all is forgiven. It just seems like a double standard to me.

I told you to go read the CFPs own rules and criterial. You’re also not rational or objective. People on here keep pointing out the flaws in your arguments, and you keep ignoring them and pretending they don’t exist. You also keep making false assertions, such as on ranked wins. We have more, but you’re pretending one of our ranked wins doesn’t exist because it undermines your argument on metrics we lead in. We also have a better win against our common opponent so far, another metric you omit.

More 2 loss teams will lose..hopefully not us. We need to win big.

Good chance Vandy losses to Tennessee. With that, they’re out. OU isn’t a lock against Mizzou or LSU. Bama has to go to Jordan Hare with its season on the line; Bama fans will tell you they hate that. USC probably loses this week to Oregon. Oregon also plays Washington to end the year, a team Lanning has struggled against historically. Pitt can easily beat GT, whose defense is awful.

Still time for chaos, we just need to win out. Also, if Pitt beats GT and we win out, decent chance we make the ACCCG.

We need VT to beat UVA or Pitt to beat GT and SMU to lose to 1 of UL or Cal and TrumpyCane thinks we are in based off tiebreakers

3 or more 2 loss teams eliminates the H2H breaker

You’re joking with saying we don’t have an advantage in a single metric, right? The criteria that’s supposed to be used by the committee: H2H, SOS, conference championships, common opponents, results against ranked teams. Every person that watches sports knows that head to head carries the most weight. They have 2 ranked wins and we have 3. Common opponents will be NC State, Pitt, Stanford, and Syracuse. We both killed NC State. We haven’t played Pitt and they still have Syracuse and Stanford (teams we also destroyed). ESPN has SOS with us at 43 and them at 29.

Here are the results for the metrics you claim we have nothing over them in:

H2H - us

Common opponents - right now a wash, but they’d have to win their last 2 by a wide margin with us struggling against Pitt to take this metric.

Results against ranked teams - us (3-0 vs 2-2)

SOS - them

Conference championship - NA

So we have 2/3 while also holding the most important in head to head. Common opponent could end up making it 3/4.

They were widely criticized for leaving us out last year. If we win out, they'll put us in hoping we get destroyed just to show they know what they're doing.

Well where’s Vandy’s good win? Tennessee’s good win? Tennessee has 3 losses and sits at #20. Vandy’s a bubble CFP team apparently. How about Oregon? Missouri? He’ll, even Notre Dame.

I guess the glass in CFB is “half empty” because a lot of these so called CFP locks or bubble teams have 0 quality wins but “quality losses”. Texas has 3 “quality losses” but sits only 2-3 spots behind us in the rankings. Sure, you can say things like “we did this to ourselves”. To an extent, sure. We didn’t play an absolute perfect game every week but neither did a lot of these clown teams I just mentioned, yet we seem to be getting a lot more **** for losing 2 games by an average of 4.5 points to teams who likely finish with 8-9 wins. There’s about to be a lot of 10-2 slap **** teams who won’t have a single quality win who might get chosen over us.

So I just gotta question how much we did to ourselves vs how much we’re getting ****ed by the AP rankings at this very moment. I’ll say it’s about 20/80 us getting ****ed.

I agree that we have ourselves to blame, but the part that frustrates me is all these other teams are allowed to have bad losses but we’re expected to be basically perfect throughout the season. I get the frustration, but it seems like many have forgotten we are not in a Power 2 conference, and we can't even win the **** one we are in. We knew we had very little margin of error for a second loss and/or not winning the conference and now we sit in multiple threads upset about the playoff rankings or playing out different conference championship scenarios because we do not control our own destiny.

We’re basically an A-10 school in March yelling the ACC gets too many teams into the big dance.

It sucks, but we left it in someone else's hands. Win out and deal with it.

It will be telling tomorrow to see where we are ranked in relation to Vandy and Utah, if we are moved above them, we will be in a decent position.

If we are still below them, then our outlook is bleak and we’ll need a lot of losses or to back door into the ACCCG.

If BYU lost to cincy but still went to conference championship and lost, would that 3rd loss count against them in comparison to 2 loss teams like us who don’t play in it OR same with Utah, if they go and lose would that 3rd loss be counted against them vs a 2 loss team like us that doesn’t play in their own conference championship?

A loss to Cincy should certainly move them below Miami. Only problem is how do you move them below Utah. CFP is praying it all just works out.
