Maybe. But we could very well finish 11 and the ACC champ finishes 20th and we miss it. Last season Clemson was ranked behind SMU but was guaranteed a spot.

USF losing today basically made that virtually an impossible scenario, G5 might not even get one conference champion ranked higher than the ACC champ.

They would need two.

unlike last year -SMUcame into the playoffs with only 1 loss in the reg season and the committee doesn't penalize you for playing an extra title game). if they had 2 losses entering the title game, they would have gotten left out for us or bama

This is what the SEC does. They get all these teams ranked, undeservedly so, then when they all get 2-3 losses, they point to all the ranked wins. I call BS.

Texas now has three losses, and one is to a Florida team we destroyed. Alabama has two losses, and one of them is to an FSU team we dominated.

This is a biproduct of how ****** the ACC is. Conference losses make the ACC teams look bad, because our conference gets beat by everyone including non power conferences in OOC games.

We do not have the luxury of taking a good conference loss, because there are no good conference losses when we are 1-6 against the big 12, Duke has two losses to mid major teams and got slaughtered by Illinois, Pitt gets rolled by a Notre dame team we squeaked by at home, va tech is out here losing to old dominion.

Getting more ranked teams is easy, win more games. The SEC gets ranked teams because they are like 30 games over .500 the last ten years against ooc power conference opponents. It’s not really a legitimate gripe if they are beating the breaks off our conference, the results support it.

texas prolly goes close to unbeaten in the acc minus against miami (which is the only team that can compete talent wise)

you are not comprehending that USF lost today and that it would take a miracle for the ACC champ (UVA or GT) to not be one of the top 5 highest conference champions

even if GT loses next two weeks, they'd be a 10-3 acc champ and they would absolutely be ranked as a top 5 conference champ

same can be said for UVA if they lost to VT

the acc title winner is IN - doesn't matter where they are ranked by the committee

We just need a weird upset. TT needs to win the Big 12 and eliminate either Utah or BYU. Ideally, BYU loses next week to Cincy and TT beats Utah.

If we can jump Vandy this week that’s the #11 spot. Then we just need something fluky.

we get over ND if both are 10-2, committee cant them and not us, so someone else will fall
 
Auburn has lost close games all season. Their game at home vs Bama will be their national championship with a chance to knock them out. That wouldn’t be a fluky upset.

The point is, they don’t just pick the highest rated team from a conference. If that was the case Bama gets in over Clemson. At the end of the day all we can do is win the next two games and just pray college football happens to everyone not name Miami.
 
If Miami and ND both end up 10-2 I wonder what mental gymnastics the committee will come up with to keep them ahead.

We have the head to head win and even our win against NC State (common opponent) is better.

youre right. I forgot that the pac is gone so yes the five would be the p4 plus a g5.

either way, they dont have to bump us one spot bc one team lost ahead of us. they redo the entire ranking on Tuesday if they feel like it and redo it again the following Tuesday. I bet they have us in the top 10 come Tuesday

They’ll argue they are better today than week 1. Even though I think our defense is leaps and bounds better now than week 1.
