The Young'ns

When has Berrios ever shown signs giving up? As a punt returner, he should be removed. At receiver, I always thought he looked like he has some game even though he's hasn't been fully healthy.

I always found it funny that people on here were questioning Berrios as an athlete. According to his SPARQ rating out of HS he is an elite athlete. Not only was he not completely healed from injury, he gained some unnecessary muscle. He looked like he was 185-190 at times last year. His playing weight should be 180lbs at most IMO. Esp for his height/frame. Excited to see him now that he is supposedly 100% and that he is slimmed down.

* LB Mike Pinckney's worked as a first-teamer at WILL the last two weeks.

"It ain't no surprise - I'm doing my job and doing it to the best of my abilities," Pinckney said.

Was he surprised when coaches told him to work with the first team a couple of weeks ago?

"No," he said. "It wasn't a real shocker. I know if I can do my job, if he trusts in us to make plays and I can compete at a high level then it isn't any problem."

His advice to the freshmen that will arrive in the summer?

"Just attack everything you do," Pinckney said. "That's real vital to your success here - if you don't attack it, it's going to come at you and come at you in a bad way."

* LB Zach McCloud says the attacking system of Diaz is "my preferred method of play."

And McCloud impressed enough in Saturday's scrimmage to get elevated to second-team status at SAM today.

He's participating despite a shoulder injury he suffered in high school that at one point he thought would cost him spring ball.

"I'm out here hitting everybody, am wearing a little collar - my strength is coming back and there's no pain left," he said. "I'm fine."

These 2 and Shaq aint no **** freshmen! These some grown *** men on a mission to buss some heads!

LB group is solidified now.
WR group will be loaded once the big3 (Bruce, Mullins, Richards) get on campus.

Ahmmon Richards is up to 190 lbs now according to him.

Good to hear about McCloud. A shoulder injury for a young linebacker is brutal. Not only from a playing standpoint, but you can't do the necessary lifting you need even when you're not starting. He must be ok.

UknowWhat, if your son plays as well as he answers questions from reporters, he will be an All-American as long as he's here. Great stuff.

Great stuff about Berrios. He knows Sam Bruce is coming..Glad to see he isnt just going to roll over and play dead.

I know they say we are only taking 2 LBs but if this progress keeps up with the young kids we will have to recruit at least 3-4..Because the "young'ns" wont be here all 4 years.

Early on, I think Bruce should be used as our primary specialist. The kid is electric.....we need him to keep that mentality while learning his role in offense.

What a great young man. He clearly loves where he is and what the coaches are asking him to do. He's even having fun answering questions. That smirk on his face when they asked if was playing will was great. His confidence is very apparent. Good times are ahead...

Go Canes!

P.S. - Congrats Pops Shaq. You must be very proud and deservedly so...

Raising a kid can be a very satisfying thing especially when you see the fruits of your labor.

Coaching Shaq must be a dream.

Humble, well spoken, and mature beyond his years.

Well done UKNOWWHAT.

BTW the other two Lb's also look like good kids
