The Work 7-3

These people never learn man lol

If there is 1 thing i've learned with Mario, it's never count that **** out when it comes to recruiting.

Every time I feel like recruiting has slipped a little for his standards, he'll pull a shocker out of nowhere.

Wake me up in December. Y'all can keep having periods over a recruiting class in July

I just saw carson beck yesterday- the boy is looking strong- probably hovering around 225 pounds at 6'4". He looks thicker in the legs and I can see him getting 2 to 3 first downs a game just running the ball.

Career wise Carson is not afraid to take off to pick up a first with his legs. Its an underrated part of his game. Him + our OL should work out well. Just gotta see if the TE & WR groups can step up, if they can then we're in for a fun year.

you really can’t make up how bad db recruiting has been. Corner was addressed in offseason through portal and now a great corner commit list for 26 but good god at what we are doing at the safety position. Cristobal and this recruiting department are always a year behind and I don’t understand it given how Cristobal runs a program.

27 is the year we address safety 🤣
Question is, will he take it personally??

Not sure why we gotta do this like you don’t know exactly what I’m saying

You're asking this question? It's CIS, my man.

Anyway, all of us fans run scenario analyses (if / then) in our brains during the off season (and during the season even more lol). There are positive and negative scenarios. IMO, the sophomore dependency isn't as big a concern -- we have Bain, Messidor, Bryant, Moten and Blay. My concern is depth at DT over what we hope will be more than 13 games.

I’m more bullish on Blay than a lot of people here and Moten is solid.

It’s just brutal that we only have 1 DT from the 2022 and 2023 classes on the team

Which is sort of my other issue. Of course young guys CAN make an impact, but we also have not shown anything as far as our team being able to do this

Do I think Justin Scott can be great? Yup. I’m also a huge fan of Jones

It’s just a lot to ask considering we’ve yet to show any life from our DT recruiting and coaching

Right there with you. To me, the DT situation is the biggest weakness on the team.

Depth: If we had even a Taylor or Silvera type on top of what we have, I'd feel dramatically better about our chances against ND and UF, along with the grind of our ACC schedule. Not asking for first rounders but guys that can be stout against the run and hold up physically. **** if Horton were healthy (big IF), he would have done.

Scott: I honestly can't remember one play from last year where is said to myself I see why this guy was a projected R1 5-star. I know some guys who watched him in the Spring say he's reshaped his body and is ready to take a big step. But I haven't seen that yet.

Jones: I thought he would play much more last year because of his core strength. But he played hardly at all, so what's that tell you? I am also a huge fan of his. But lack of production has me concerned given his best attribute was he came in physically ready to go.

Heck, we don't even know for sure if Blay translates to high-level P4 play. It's not like he dominated in the Spring. Could it all come together, yes. Will it?

Not concerned with Jones or Scott last year for a lot of reasons. They were true freshmen first and foremost

Also when you got veterans on defense looking like they’ve never played a snap of football I’m not gonna hold it against a true freshman for maybe not understanding their responsibilities

But to your point this goes back to the whole original discussion: can sophomore DTs and DEs contribute and make an impact? Of course

Can sophomore DTs and DEs that did absolutely nothing as freshmen contribute and make an impact? That’s gets “tougher” (which is the word I said in the first place didn’t say “can’t” or “won’t”)

Brown gonna take carries away from Fletcher? 👀
