The Work 3-31

I think having a legit Coach in more than a decade is the true difference, someone who actually knows what he's doing, no more amateur hour.

you know alot of SEC guys rip on richt, siting that he never won at uga, he was good not great, and couldnt win the big games

to be honest, other than chizik who bought a title with cam, and les miles who lucked into a title with nick sabans senior class

no one else really won in the SEC during the saban/meyer decade+

i firmly believe richt is a top 5 coach in the country, i always liked him at UGA, however i believe miami presents him with a better chance to succeed than he had at UGA

SFLA just produces better talent than the ATL area, and with a capable, successful coach, we should be able to both keep alot of the talent we werent keeping with randy and golden

and go out and get some top kids in other areas to fill our needs

And don't forget he has a clearer path to the playoffs at UM than he did at UGA. ACC-C schedule doesn't exactly present a lot of steep hills to climb.

I honestly think we're getting a different Richt than most of us have watched at Georgia over the past 8-10 years.

I think/hope we'll be getting more of the FSU/early Georgia Richt. Those were the most impressive/successful days of his career.

He has a lot to motivate him with a new position at his alma mater. Controls coaching decisions and was able to hire a kickass staff.
However, he has a lot of crap to clean up. 2017 may be his big year, especially if BK stays. The Oline will be the rate-limiting factor.

That's not Mark.... That's Al.
I just don't see it that way.

Whether you don't "see" it that way or not is irrelevant. The results speak for themselves. **** out here with your troll ***.

You're entitled to your opinion and lets come to an understanding that your opinion is simply that. There's no arguing with Mark's pedigree.

-Team Captain while playing at Penn State
-2nd round draft pick in the NFL
-15 years of college coaching experience beginning at UGA and moving to Rutgers, Virginia, Temple, & Miami

You may not like his scheme but to label him a person that doesn't know football is just false.

Hey Mark, how's the unemployed life treating ya?

There is video floating around of D'no and the other coaches sitting around a table discussing recruits, several years worth of game Film to watch and a particularly telling clip of Him fumbling through his play sheets. Each are objective measure of football knowledge, be it general or situational. Each indicate "pedigree" may be misleading.

The man does not know football to the degree a FBS coordinator should. He rode his friends coat tails and was over promoted. Does he know enough to make good high school DC? Perhaps (but I actually doubt it), But his rigidity and stubbornness would result in failure.

Did he play at UM? That's all the **** I care about anymore. I was fooled by his Temple results, and by the smoke he blew when he was hired. I'll never be fooled by another cheap *** hire again. Couldn't care less what a Temple player says about anything, or anyone.
It's gotta be April fool's day with some dude on here preaching the virtues and talents of Mark D'Onofrio.

I would consider Muhammad Wilkerson's opinion on Coach D'onofrio long before yours.

That was the former staff's answer for everything, Muhammad Wilkerson.

the user name tells all you need to know about this guy..Red Bank, NJ..probably a buddy of that ******* scum trash know nothing worthless garbage DC we had here. Thank god that trash is gone.

How the **** did this turn into a Donofrio love fest?

This thread is about how the new staff is doing all the right thing to make us a top 10 team again, not how some fat has-been was punching above his weight class.

I didn't know richt had that kind of fire. Love it!

You guys are going to laugh, but I think I understand his mentality. Richt is a strong Christian and when a door closes a new one opens. Georgia shut the door and mamma called and the prodigal son has returned home. The guy is coaching with a chip on his shoulder and Miami is the beneficiary. He's also returning to run the offense and call plays. He's excited to do so. He cleared loves that role when he did it at Georgia. He's also coaching with his son who is clearly in a watch and learn role. This is a great set up for him and I think Hecht and the administration are going to support him and give him whatever he wants within reason. I also think he knows if he does this right he can win a National Championship at Miami. I think we're getting the early 2000s version of Mark Richt. If that's the case, then this is going to be a very fun next 5 to 6 years.

Good point and I bet you it is not just Richt with that chip.
Coach Kuligowski had his issues at Mizzou and Diaz with what happened to him at Texas.

BTW, not sure why this forum has foreigners like airnole on this board, negging good posters like PentagonCane.
That 50 lb colostomy bag needs to be removed from here just for negging a fellow Cane.

Love hearing Richt not accepting guys playing soft. That Diaz ripping into guys for running around blocks instead of taking them on. CB's will have to be by committee, Corn, Redwine, J. Johnson and Malek Young. Hopefully college offenses aren't as astute and capable as Pro teams in taking advantage of matchups.

The kid coming in from Texas will help.

With an incompetent staff, Miami almost beat FSU in 2014 and 2015. And in both those games, Dalvin Cook bailed them out against the most incompetent defensive coordinator in the BCS conferences. And that's against FSU's vaunted Top 5 recruiting classes.

Bottom line is the dude knows what is coming with this staff fixing to sign a legitimate Top 3 class not just with overwhelming numbers like in 2002 and 2008, but with real quality. Plus, it's impossible to lock down South Florida but Miami is about to reassert itself as the school that will get the pick of the litter from the Big 3 counties. We're pulling kids from Georgia and Jacksonville. We're reappearing in Texas. I'd love to see us back in Pennsylvania for offensive linemen.

Excellent post, and that's exactly what I'm hoping for. If you have the right mindset, you're never to old to learn or to get better. Hopefully, Richt is a violent competitor and uses the failure at UGA as fuel for what looked like a flickering fire the last few years.

He's a proven playcaller, which is something we haven't enjoyed since the JJ era. That alone should be a huge boost to us, and Richt stated his one regret was not calling plays and actively coaching QBs. He's doing both now, so I'm hoping that's the shot of juice he and we need.

"Yeah D'Onofrio really knew his football but he was a scrub *** bum at implementing it and being able to teach it to anybody. I'm tired of him and his cult mentioning me as to why he's a good coach when his terrible results speak for themselves more than a lucky, no skill evaluation of me. His defenses at a higher level of college sucked donkey *** and had more holes in them than Swiss cheese. I think the saturated fat from the donuts blocked some blood flow to his brain. That or Golden's **** pipe cleaning Mark's head on an hourly basis might have wiped out some neurons. Anybody who thinks he's a good coach is incredibly dumb and has their face firmly entrenched in his squishy ****. It's no coincidence that since he gave up 58 points to Clemson and got booted out the front door for being awful nobody at any level of football has shown even a shred of interest in hiring him for anything. I also believe that he has Sandusky like tendencies if you know what I mean." -Actual quote from Muhammad Wilkerson.

Ta da!

Yep. All of that, and it's not just the folks from Trailerhassee that should worry.
