1) how does Powell flip to the gators during Dead period and with never being offered by them before the day he's suppose to enroll at Miami? Somethings up there regardless of what anyone says.

2) I don't have a lot of faith in any of the BTW kids until one actually signs. I believe eduardo clements was the last BTW kid to play here if i'm not mistaken. the shannon firing has a lot to do with that.

3) why oh why do we keep recruiting and offering kids who can't get in every year? i mean i know it's inevitable sometimes but **** we have offered way too many kids who don't qualify. that falls on the staff for not doing enough research on their recruits, which would be effort better used on kids that actually qualify. i feel i just never hear about this many kids not qualifying at other programs year in and year out. these coaches definitely need to do their research on the current culture of recruiting. no excuse for not offering treon harris a offer as a qb even with no intentions on using him as a qb. same can be said with quincy wilson as a cb. coaches at fsu, bama, & uf get it, but for some reason our staff doesn't.

there i'm done venting. despite my previous comments i'm actually excited to see how this recruiting class ends and looking forward to progress next season

Anyone at this point who cant CLEARLY see what is going on with Sony, I dont know what to tell you.

You could tell us what is going on with Sony

Lets see, been recruiting him since the 8th grade. Recruited him hard as ****. Kid claims he is a lifelong Canes fan. Loves us. Had been to campus tons of times on unofficial visits. Commits to UGA (SEC) out of the blue, and REFUSES to even meet with our coaches, take their calls, or even come on an OV. And now is reportedly still "open", but still wont even consider UM.

Dont know what that tells you, but it seems pretty clear to me what's going on there.

He doesn't want to be in Miami?

That he's willing to give up the UGA money to go elsewhere but not to go to UM?

Only way he's giving up UGA money, is for BIGGER money. UM cant pay, so UM wont even be considered. Why else would the "life long Canes fan" and hometown kid, not even meet with our coaches or agree to even take their calls?

Because he doesn't want to go to Miami? It's not like he'd be giving up the money because he took a phone call or said he was considering Miami.

**There was talk that Chad Thomas contacted the FSU staff last week, but Thomas told me that is completely false. I texted Thomas to ask if there was any truth to those rumors and he called me immediately back saying, “Man, I don’t even call Miami coaches, why would I call another school that I’m not committed to? I didn’t call FSU at all.” Hopefully that puts an end to the talk that Thomas is wavering in his commitment.

**Another Booker T. Washington commit that some Canes fans have worried about is Demetrius Jackson, who said he will visit Texas Tech this month. I asked Jackson if there was any serious interest there and he said, “I’m visiting, but honestly not considering them at all.” Of course things can change if he is blown away by the visit, but Miami should not be concerned. I would not be surprised if he ends up not even taking the trip to Lubbock.

**I know there has been a lot of speculation as to what happened with Brandon Powell and Miami, but I can tell you the talk of Miami coaches telling him to wait to enroll is completely untrue. I have been told that Powell was not thrilled with the way Golden flirted with the Penn State job and Florida capitalized on that. I don’t really know what else Miami could have done given the circumstances, so it is safe to assume that Powell just preferred Florida for whatever reason. The point is that Miami wanted him and did not push him out of the class as some have suggested.

**For a while, I was unsure if David Njoku had a committable offer from Miami but I was told that it is legit. The Canes are in very good position to land Njoku as well as Brayden Lenius. Both are being pursued by the staff, which should tell you all you need to know about Derrick Griffin. Despite Griffin tweeting this week that he would be in Miami “sometime this month”, the Canes have moved on and he will not be here barring some unforeseen miracle. Technically, Griffin would have until the 23rd to enroll at Miami with classes beginning tomorrow, but again that is not expected whatsoever.

**Trayone Gray is another kid with question marks and I was told this past week that it is still a “long, long shot” and that he needs a “miracle” to get in. I expect Gray to wind up at a Prep School or Junior College, with the latter more likely.

**People continue to ask who I think Miami will end up with down the stretch and I do think there will be 3-4 prospects added, although they probably won’t be huge names. Njoku and Lenius are likely right now, but I’m very doubtful JC Jackson signs here and I just don’t know with Valentine anymore. It comes down to this with Valentine: He is visiting LSU on the 24th and Miami on the 31st. If he leaves the LSU visit without committing there AND follows through with the Miami visit, I think he winds up here. The challenge for Miami will be making sure they get that last crack at him. Hurlie Brown will need to work his magic. Also, look for a couple of kids to emerge down the stretch that we had not previously heard of (think Figueroa from last year).

**I’m told that Sony Michel has not shut down his recruitment despite being committed to Georgia, but that Miami is not being considered.

What a joke.

How can 3-4 years of relationship building with this kid (Sony) go to sh*t in a span of a few months? That, and the kid grew up watching and rooting for UM. There is no other logical explanation other than the kid is being motivated by outside influences.

Regarding Chad Thomas, he may have not reached out to the FSU coaches, but that doesn't mean that the FSU coaches won't reach out to him once the dead period is over. He is one to keep an eye on. Not sure why, but he worries me a bit. I think D. Jackson sticks, but it depends on what Thomas does.

Powell going to UF just tells me that he always had his sights on UF and was just coming here because it was the "best offer available". I think Golden potentially leaving to PSU had little to do with it.

I don't think JC Jackson (F$U) comes here, but then again, we thought T. Howard was for sure headed to UF up to signing day, so you never know.

I have a strong feeling that Valentine doesn't end up here. If he truly only decommitted because Golden was going after the PSU job, he would have recommitted to us already. I honestly think he was just looking for a reason to decommit, unfortunately.

A class closing with just Njoku and Lenius will be somewhat of a bummer, although Golden has shown that the recruiting class is never complete on signing day.

I don't expect signing day to be a real exciting one this year.

Lenius is a stud. He's more Derrick Griffin than Daniel Adderley. We'd be lucky to add a talent like that.

How much have you seen of him? Are you getting info from other sources? Just wondering because I personally can't tell a ton from the highlight videos. Would be great news.

He doesn't want to be in Miami?

But he wont even meet with our coaches or take their calls?

Why waste his time if he knows he will not go there? Its not like he needs Miami as a backup option, he has 150 of them sitting out there.

Sometimes the obvious is obvious.

He's not going to be shocking anyone. Kid was Mr. Hurricane up until his Senior year when recruiting heated up, then just up and locks us out, commits to UGA, and refuses to meet with, or talk to our coaches, refuses to even consider us. Ive seen this movie before.

How often does a local kid, who we have been recruiting since the 8th grade, not even give us the courtesy of an official visit, or at least take a call from our coaches? Even MT last year, who clearly wanted out, still agreed to come on an OV.

This situation reminds me more of the Dwayne Bowe situation. The way its gone down.

Looks like we have missed on several top targets BUT have also hit on several top targets!

Considering the events of the past two months on and off the field I think we have done ok.

Aside from Yearby, Kaaya, Thomas and Jackson we need those DT to sign.

IF THE ABOVE HAPPENS I AM COOL with the class as we would have filled the holes we needed desperately to fill (QB, RB, DE, DL).

I'm all for Lineus and Njoku. I fully expect some new names to pop up as well once our staff gets on the road.

He doesn't need an official, he visited all of the time. Maybe he figured out he wanted to get away.

****, I didn't have it all figured out in high school but maybe he does.

It happens. There are lots of kids that just don't want to stay home.
