Follow NWS Miami and read their Forecast Discussions and then go to the weather apps. By reading the discussion (you may not know all the jargon), but you'll get some idea of what atmospheric phenomena is/are the player(s) for why there is an increased risk of heavy rain and lightning. In this case it comes from a cold front ushering in a very moist air mass and ample lift.
